Average arguments from a "logic and facts" enjoyer. Hyperbole and name-calling.
What is 40% of 20 million? That means there are still approximately 12 million visits to the US from Canada, at an absolute minimum.
Go buy your BYD and enjoy it losing 40% of its value in the first year of ownership.
As opposed to people who reflexively resort to sweeping, hyperbolic generalizations to make a point, for lack of a better argument.. like how "literally nobody is going to the USA"?
Even if we take for granted that the highest claimed estimate of a 40% reduction in tourism is reflective of all cross-border travel (since much of it is actually commercial), that is still millions of people visiting the US each year.
The fact is that the auto industry is highly competitive and highly reliant on favorable regulatory conditions. BYD already has massive challenges to overcome to break into the Canadian market. Being unable to drive the vehicle into the US will hurt the value of the brand and adds resistance to their acceptance on the Canadian market. EVs already have terrible resale value.
Furthermore, it's highly likely that a detente between Canada and the US under a Democrat leaves at least some of this protectionist regulation in place.
@Bitofhonesty@AkkadSecretary If you are paying more by renting.
There are break points where it is better or worse to rent that own.
Home ownership is good and should be recommended because the average person just isn't responsible enough to keep money invested. Home ownership forces it.
@re87535540@peteremcc@DuaneBratt He's an academic. His entire professional life is based upon the premise that there are an elite that exist to decide the success or failure of ideas.
He doesn't hate Alberta so much as he hates the idea of society being ruled from the bottom, up.
@TTExulansic Highlights the complete absurdity of it. Convinced they're a man, yet has zero idea what that even means or what the social dynamics are.
Might as well identify as a dinosaur.
In case you didn't know.
After getting 61.7% support on the 2021 referendum for removing equalization from the constitution, this is what Premier Jason Kenney did.
First, he wrote a letter to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau asking for a meeting about the results.
The response was "No."
Next, he wrote a letter to the First Ministers asking for a meeting about the results.
The response was "No."
Finally, Kenney gave up.
This is the leadership that Kenney offered to Albertans who trusted him.
Now he's asking us to "Lead, not Leave" when the truth is Albertans cannot fix the Canadian system. We have tried. It's time we "Lead, and Leave."
@nataliehhhh@DahliaKurtz I agree. Penalties for running lights and signs in areas with high pedestrian density should be significantly higher, too.
In any case, bike path policing like this is almost always a 1-2 day "blitz" to remind cyclists that they cannot run stop signs. Not typical policing.
No they didn't, as they were told by Nowak multiple times that he had been stabbed, and he was both clearly distressed and had trouble communicating after being pulled out from behind the car.
They never made any significant effort to check for injuries, which is all but guaranteed to be department policy.
Instead he was left to die in handcuffs.
The media won't do that because it's a catch-22.
Ask, and she turns around and says "Nobody knows and that's why the courts should have allowed validation. 300k is the best number available." A predictable response.
Nobody wants them validated though. Lukaszuk orbiters would rather pretend they're 100% fake. Separatists would rather pretend they're 100% real.
Validation would probably find 5-10% can't be validated, just like how the Lukaszuk petition lost like signatures between the deadline press release and validation.
@RiskyPrediction@kevin_inalberta Imagine how much economic pressure could be released if Quebec made the effort to bring their GDP/cap up to the level of... Ohio.
Are you a child or just an imbecile?
Per capita and total are both important for different reasons. We can both recognize that. NWT and Nunavut don't contribute enough to federal finances in total to keep the rest of the country afloat, even if on a per capita basis they outperform. Their populations and economies are simply too small.
Alberta is large enough that it can be exploited to keep eastern Canada fat off whatever schemes are concocted to expropriate the west- as has been documented since shortly after confederation.
In any case, the fact is that Quebec is the second largest province in Canada, yet is net drain on federal finances. Their poor GDP per capita merely illustrates the point that they are an underperformer in North America overall and absolutely could lead the whole country to prosperity if they chose to. These are facts.
