People didn’t want growth, they wanted another plot-armored comfort show like ATLA and got pissed when the writers actually matured.

Korra’s trauma across four seasons wasn’t the writers “ruining” her legacy. It was them refusing to hand her the same invincible-hero safety net Aang got. They made her lose, break, deal with real PTSD, and still choose to keep going. That’s not bad writing that’s modern, adult storytelling.

Aang was the idealized Avatar. Korra was the human one. The fact that we’re still arguing about it years later proves it worked.

1. Most people don't know enough about the rules to credibly judge the merits & demerits of the decision.

2. Even if the decision was justified, selecting a politician's child is a bad look. Terrible actually. The optics matter.
