The Allen Graves experience: Game 4

I finally got the chance/time to watch the Raps SL game vs Miami yesterday. Great game, great win, but I wish the guys played with more urgency with respect to the SL playoff push for the top 4 seeds/tiebreaker.

But man, what’s not to love about Allen Graves? The analytics darling of the draft will be the face of Analytics FC at this rate.

Literally the definition of jack-of-all-trades. He can dribble, pass, defend, rebound, shoot, set screens, court vision, great bball IQ, making right/winning plays. Every team needs a player like that if they’re serious about winning.

The one thing I really liked and appreciated about yesterday’s game is that, he got increased opportunities to bring the ball across the court/playmaking/ball-handling responsibilities. This is the one area I really, really, really want to see him continue to grow and develop.

I don’t want him to be a pass-first guy. I want him to be able to know when to pass/when to score, more efficiently, and continue to have better understanding of court vision/awareness etc. If he masters this, you basically got a mini-Nikola Jokić on the team.

I agree with what Jeremy Lin said on the broadcast. He’s going to shock a lot of people, and exceed expectations as the 19th pick. He’ll hopefully have a great rookie season.

I don’t want to get too high or too ahead of ourselves, but at some point in the future, he could absolutely be in the conversation for steal of the draft.

One more game left on Sunday before we gear towards training camp/preseason. I’m excited for the next game.

- sign&trade him next yr for a worse Toronto package

@Clipper_Revival @bvb030 And Barrett has a good market right now, it’s been reported. In general you are right Raptors don’t clear cap space because we are not a FA destination. This is the rare time a top-10 guy wants to come to Toronto, so I don’t see why we wouldn’t clear space for him next year

@Clipper_Revival @bvb030 Moving an expiring Ingram would be pretty easy one year from now? There’s a handful of teams sitting around with huge trade exceptions. I doubt it’s very difficult to send Ingram + Gradey to Charlotte in exchange for pick compensation
