I'll always find shit like this funny, China hasn't been in a conflict since 1979. While the US and it's partners have spent the last 25 years getting really good at killing people.
Statement Regarding Gameplan Media & ALGS Project Dispute
By Witty
This statement is intended to clarify the situation regarding my commissioned work with Gameplan Media for the Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) animation project.
Overview
Throughout this project, I conducted myself with professionalism and maintained clear, respectful communication at every stage. However, after delivery of the final assets, Gameplan Media edited the Discord message history, altering key parts of the original agreement โ specifically inserting NET 45 payment terms that were never previously discussed or agreed upon.
I have retained screenshots of both the original and edited messages, which clearly confirm that this change was made after I requested payment details, and was done in a way that bypasses Discordโs notification system for edits.
Background
The collaboration began as a straightforward commission to create 3D animation content for ALGS. At no point during onboarding, production, or delivery was I provided with a contract, NDA, or any type of confidentiality agreement. Only after project completion did Gameplan Media attempt to introduce terms restricting public discussion and delaying payment through a retroactive NET 45 policy.
In addition to this, payment details were not shared until 2โ3 weeks after final delivery โ and only after several follow-ups on my end.
After I exited the Gameplan Media Discord group due to unresolved payment concerns, I received a direct message from a representative claiming that their finance team was โAFK for 2 daysโ and promising payment by EOD Thursday. This message arrived only after I had issued a 12-hour deadline and had been following up for weeks. Given the timing and inconsistency with previous responses, I find this explanation unreliable.
Professional Conduct
Despite the lack of formal terms, I operated in good faith from day one. I waited 57 days after the ALGS event concluded (May 4th) before publishing a Behance project breakdown, in accordance with Gameplan Mediaโs instruction not to share raw Apex Legends renders.
Instead, the Behance post used the official ALGS Hype Trailer and focused on:
- Character animation and technical breakdowns
- VFX implementation
- The scope and scale of the ALGS event
The breakdown also clearly notes that two of the featured categories were created and owned by Electronic Arts, as part of transparent and respectful attribution.
Unprofessional Conduct from Gameplan Media
Unfortunately, Gameplan Media's behavior throughout this engagement has included:
- Editing message history to add terms that were never agreed upon
- Introducing confidentiality restrictions post-delivery
- Failing to deliver payment by the stated invoice deadline
Furthermore, after the Behance breakdown went live, a member of Gameplan Mediaโs design team directly messaged my collaborator, who had simply helped organize and present the final visuals. This individual harassed him with baseless accusations and attempted to intimidate him for showcasing the work โ despite the fact that I, the commissioned artist, created the majority of the animation work, which is fully documented.
This unprofessional conduct also included:
- Attempting to involve others in the conversation to pressure or discredit me
- Falsely accusing me of using โstolen animationโ โ an entirely fabricated claim
- Asserting that the animation was created solely by Gameplan Mediaโs internal team, which is demonstrably false
- Permitting a team member to harass and intimidate collaborators for publicly showcasing the completed project
These actions not only undermine my contribution but also damage the trust that freelance creatives place in studios like Gameplan Media.
Closing Statement
I have made every effort to handle this situation respectfully and privately. However, I will not tolerate:
- False accusations
- Altered agreements
- Attempts to discredit my professional work or reputation
This statement serves to protect my name, clarify the facts, and ensure transparency within the creative community.
