Imagine being a man with a happy life, a loving wife, a cherished daughter. After months away working abroad, he finally takes leave to return home, eager to celebrate his little girl's birthday.
He arrives, greeted with warmth, tired but content. He drifts into sleep, only to be wrenched awake by an unbearable, searing pain in his chest. His eyes flutter open, his wife is looming over him, plunging a knife into his body, again and again. His chest, his neck. The agony is nothing compared to the horror. The shock. The confusion. The betrayal. The woman he loved, the mother of his child, carving the life out of him. He doesn’t even get to ask, Why? Before he can make sense of it, darkness consumes him.
This isn’t a scene from a crime novel. It happened in Meerut this month.
Saurabh Rastogi married Muskan for love nine years ago, defying his family. They built a life together. They had a daughter. Saurabh worked in the Merchant Navy, traveling abroad for months. While he was away, Muskan began an affair with Sahil Shukla. They decided Saurabh was an obstacle to be removed.
She gave him sedatives, and once he was weak and sleepy, she and her lover slaughtered him. But they didn’t stop there. They dismembered his body, stuffed the parts into a container, filled it with cement, and left for a holiday in Shimla, as if they hadn’t just erased a human being.
Yesterday, the police caught them. They found what was left of Saurabh.
This isn't about gender wars. Men and women both fall victim to such brutality. But this case is a chilling reminder, betrayal is the sharpest knife. And if love dies, why not walk away instead of butchering the one person who trusted you most?
