Anyway...
Hooray for Alexandra Eala, huh?
The Filipina phenom adds another WTA 125 title to her trophy case, rallying past Nikola Bartunkova, 5-7, 6-3, 7-5.
With the win, Eala moves back up to grand slam seeding range, climbing from #37 to #33 in the live rankings.
🇵🇭 Alex Eala battled past Nikola Bartunkova 5-7, 6-3, 7-5 to win the Birmingham title and end her losing streak against Czech opponents.
After falling a break down early in the second set, Eala responded brilliantly, taking control of the match and cruising through the set. The decider was much tighter – she couldn’t serve it out at 5-4 and then had to save three break points while serving for the match again at 6-5.
A deserved second WTA 125 title for the Filipina, who rises to No. 33 in the rankings and strengthens her chances of earning a Wimbledon seeding. A great start to the grass season! 🌱
Eala Outlasts
Alexandra Eala had her big breakthrough on the hardcourts of Miami last year.
Her first WTA claycourt season... wasn't as successful.
This year, though, she's already won 3 times as many matches on the dirt, fighting past Magdalena Frech, 6-0, 3-6, 6-4.
Eala on the Move
Fresh off an appearance on the red carpet of the Laureus Awards, Alex Eala gets right back to work in Madrid.
The Filipina up-and-comer gets past former Roland-Garros runner-up Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, 6-3, 6-3, to reach the 2nd round.
