🚨 Job Alert 🚨 (1/3)
👋🏾I'm hiring a full-time research technician to work with me in my new lab @OhioStatePsych!
👀Looking for an aspiring neuropsychologist who is interested in community-engaged research to address health inequities in Alzheimer's disease.🧠
So grateful to @ReneeCFattah for creating such a powerful documentary ✊🏾
Thank you to our panelists @drslevyneuropsy@Yarissa6 for sharing such valuable insights 👏🏾
Special shout out to @JenMHunt17 for managing all the logistics🙌🏾 (2/3)
Feeling inspired by comments left by attendees from our Alzheimer’s awareness event at our local African American history museum on Sunday:
“Great event…do it again and again until everyone has received this valuable info… Unfortunately denial runs deep in our community” (1/3)
There are so many incredible resources put together by RAs, grad students, and organizations like @psychinout and @NextGenPsych that got me through the nerve wracking but rewarding post-bacc job search this time last year. I compiled a list of these resources along with some resume + cover letter + interview tips drawn from my CareerLab days. https://t.co/or87WXqGV3
Hi all, I'm recruiting participants for my dissertation study. Please feel welcome to share! Thank you for your interest and support! https://t.co/gxTMpIQyCx
April's Mentoring Moment is from @drslevyneuropsy, Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Clinical and Health Psychology at the University of Florida, who shared advice on maintaining your sense of self and well-being in academia!
Encouraging all prospective neuropsych grad students to apply! This scholarship covered all of my app costs last cycle allowing me to focus my attention on the application & interview process rather than the looming financial burden. Thank you again @New2Neuropsych & @TheAACN !
The fact that several students (including myself) have to take on several side gigs, do extra clinical work to make ends meet, while institutions glamorize the perks of doing a phd… to only be financially, mentally, and physically struggling is a no for me. Sorry to hear this.
The @BlackInNeuro membership directory hit 1,000 members today.
That's a searchable database of 1,000 Black undergrads, grad students, postdocs, faculty, and clinicians you can invite for talks, interviews, collaborations and connect with to grow your neuro community. #BINW23
A 🧵 on my journey through grad school for clinical psychology while living with bipolar disorder, OCD, and anxiety, culminating in my (extremely difficult) decision to take a medical leave and seek a release from my APPIC internship match.
Phew, ok. Buckle up.
Random old men in the elevator: “That would be a great dress for a research technician”
Me: “thank you 😊 I’m actually heading to a research symposium”
Them: “Oh ok. He’s a doctor”
Me: *blinks twice* “yeah I am too. I’m actually faculty here.”
Them: 😯

You deserve good things in life.
Not because of what you’ve done for others nor how hard you’ve worked.
But because you simply do. For existing and being you. ✨
