I can attest, I was one of the Africans. Choosing representatives from each country was tough but we ended choosing one braider from each of our 54 countries and each person braided 2 braids each. It truly was a continental effort. We thank you for your business, as Africans
Career women who want children have to plan our whole lives in a completely different way to men. We have to pre-plan for the (likely) career stagnation in a way men never will.
The Diane Abbott situation has honestly deeply affected me, and I know it's affected a lot of black folk.
We all knew that racism & misogyny is rife in the UK. But to see the reactions from those in power when a black women has been so clearly & disgustingly threatened...
Black women are so hyper visible yet made to be invisible. There are so few Black women in the Commons yet the white speaker ignored her 46 times???? We are always so easily ignored in white spaces.
The UK is such a scary place for Black women & excusing incidents like this will make it so much worse. Do you know how hard it is currently to report racism in the workplace without being made to look mad? Do they understand the excuses they’ve given companies for years?!
When I graduated from Uni I couldn't get a paralegal job. It was Diane Abbott that gave me my first internship that massively helped and supported my career. She also came all the way to Brixton to be on the panel for the launch of my charity @BLAMCharity. She so selflessly shows up for our community with love and care ❤️ thank you @HackneyAbbott
I can’t believe black people in the UK are talking about other things rn. This Diane Abbott situation DIRECTLY AFFECTS YOU!!
ITS TIME TO STAND ON BUSINESS FOR ONCE!!
You lot act like politics is optional. It ISNT!
Your lives are being made worse rn!!
Can’t lie, we as blacks CANNOT be silent about this Tory Donor issue. We’ve been animalised and dehumanised for too long, with the perpetrators continuously getting away with it
