توفي اليوم الوليد عبد الحميد عابدين، نجل السفير السوداني عبد الحميد عابدين والسفيرة منى عبد الرحمن التي توفيت خلال هذه الحرب، وذلك بعد ستة أشهر من الاحتجاز القسري لدى قوات الدعم السريع.

وكان الوليد، المعروف ببره لوالديه، قد نُقل إلى المستشفى في محاولة لإنقاذ حياته، لكنه فارق الحياة متأثراً بمعاناته الطويلة في المعتقلات. ورغم أنه لم يكن منتمياً لأي تيار سياسي أو عسكري، ظل محتجزاً حتى اللحظات الأخيرة قبل انسحاب المليشيا من منطقة جبل أولياء حيث خلفوا وراءهم مئات المعتقلين.

وقد شكلت وفاته صدمة كبيرة لكل من يعرفه، ليصبح واحدًا من آلاف المدنيين الأبرياء الذين فقدوا حياتهم داخل معتقلات الدعم السريع.
