The ongoing complacency about covid-19 is so weird. Death rates have fallen because we have dramatically changed our way of life to fight the virus. If we hadn’t, & just let it run riot through our overweight unhealthy nation, the death toll would explode again. Stay vigilant.
The Govt’s 2020 coronavirus crisis results so far:
PPE - shambles.
Care homes - shambles.
Late lockdown - shambles.
Testing - shambles.
Face masks - shambles.
Quarantine - shambles.
Schools - shambles.
VERDICT: Fail 👎
A memory today of John Hume in Ireland, hard in the aftermath of Omagh, delivering the finest impromptu speech I have ever witnessed - facing down horror with hope. May God rest his brave soul.
@ElleRhianB Oor Nicola has always told the truth, and for me all politicians should always do so, but they don't. So for me she is just such a breath of fresh air.
I don’t want to be a ‘scare-mongering’ killjoy, but Boris Johnson is taking a massive risk in unlocking Britain this much, this quickly. And he’s doing it for economic not public health reasons.
Most of us haven’t had this virus yet so please be very careful from July 4.
Failed on PPE.
Failed on Testing.
Failed on Care Homes.
Failed on airport checks.
Failed with 'herd immunity' strategy.
Failed to stop mass gatherings.
Failed to lockdown in time.
RESULT: 62k dead & rising.
Anyone else feel that if Scotland was an independent country right now, @NicolaSturgeon would have followed the same hard but necessary line @jacindaardern did for New Zealand?
100% believe she would have 🏴
For the absence of doubt, the Govts in Scotland. Wales and Northern Ireland all believe we should stay at home to protect the NHS and save lives. We wanted a four nation consensus but @BorisJohnson is ploughing his own furrow. He does not speak for the other Governments in the UK
BREAKING: Scotland First Minister @NicolaSturgeon says new UK Govt advice for people to see their parents at 2m distance will ‘risk lives’ & she will not be allowing it in Scotland.
What a shambles this is.
One point about exponentials. Even when you move to the end of exponential growth to reach a plateau (a constant rate of Covid-19 deaths per day) you still have the fearsome scale of the accumulation of deaths from one day to the next, one week to the next, one year to the next
