Let's talk about unpaid work in conservation. There are MANY ethical considerations: What defines an unpaid job vs. volunteering from the heart? What are the ethical implications of unpaid work? Who is to blame for these problems? How can we change the system?

@RallidaeRule@GuloThoughts @kaylafratt @rewildology Yes- I'm thinking about it ALL THE TIME too. But I'm not on twitter a lot so my bad- im not ignoring u guys!
@RallidaeRule Ur the top of my list for my next round of podcast interviews! Once I get through fieldwork & our first NC event, imma hit you up :)
Should you pay to volunteer? This is a huge debate right now bc of low pay, underrepresented groups in our industry, exploitative practices & more.
My goal thru these chats & podcast is to help inform so that you can make the best decision. Let's talk! Fri @ 1:30 ET on IG Live.
Why is the conservation industry so white? Corina (@hood_naturalist) and Laura dig into this topic in #NovaConversations. We also get into why politics and religion are so intertwined & implications for race relations and climate change. Itโs another deep, amazing conversation!
If you support the paid internship model in conservation (or any industry), thatโs AWESOME but letโs be clear: Bashing hard-working nonprofits for not paying enough is a waste. What we need to destroy is capitalism, the system that set up this model in the first place.
Confession of the day: I am still really intimidated when it comes to using Twitter. I just don't "get it." It doesn't come naturally to me. Therefore I tend to avoid this platform. Any tips or thoughts?
