Greenpeace Africa now wants Aliko Dangote's planned Sh2.2 trillion refinery in Lamu stopped until an independent environmental and social impact assessment is completed.
The group says the project poses serious risks to mangroves, coral reefs and the wider marine environment.

Calling Kenya a โshit-holeโ does not make you brutally honest; it just makes you intellectually lazy.
Kenya has serious problems-corruption, inequality, disorder, weak public services, and, Kenyans debate them every day. That is exactly what a functioning, if imperfect, democracy looks like.
You do not have to pretend Kenya is spotless to recognise that it remains one of Africaโs strongest centres for finance, technology, media, diplomacy, tourism and private enterprise.
Criticise the country properly or keep the playground insults. Loud ignorance is still ignorance. Imbecile.
