is persuasion just REALLY good or is sense&sensibility a little flat? I’m just waiting for something to actually happen but it’s just everyone talking about each other’s lives
ooooh this was a great read. besides a few changes to some characters, the 2016 adaptation is surprisingly faithful to the novella up until the third act. that said, I still prefer the film bcs it feels much more layered, especially with class and race woven into the story
@franclaiir that makes sense, considering I went into s&s blind. I think what makes persuasion stand out is that it’s far more melancholy than austen’s other works, and everyone loves a good dose of angst. the cherry on top, of course, is wentworth’s letter.

the only good thing about 2022’s persuasion was that wentworth actually looked like he had been away at sea but they just had to go ahead and butcher everything else
