Prayer to the Saints for Help - Short prayers for busy people: compiled from the missal and the raccolta by Richard Ginder (Nihil Obstat & Imprimatur) Pg. 6
"God takes pleasure to see you take your little steps; and like a good father who holds his child by the hand, He will accommodate His steps to yours and will be content to go no faster than you. Why do you worry?"
+ St. Francis de Sales
"Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided."
Our Lady of Perpetual Help
The image of Our Lady of Perpetual Help was created in the 15th century, and was brought from a Cretan monastery - possibly after being taken by a merchant - to Rome, where it entered the Church of San Matteo on Via Merulana in 1499. It remained there until the church was looted in 1798. In 1865, Pope Pius IX entrusted the icon to the Redemptorist Fathers, who placed it in their church of Sant’Alfonso di Liguori on Rome’s Esquiline Hill.
Devotion to Our Lady of Perpetual Help began in Crete, reflected by the icon’s Byzantine style featuring a gold background and traditional Eastern symbolism. The image is painted on wood with a gold leaf background. Our Lady's eyes are directed towards the beholder with an expression of tender reproach, and speak eloquently of her great anguish at the sufferings of her Son. The crown, halo, and rich ornamentation highlight her status as Queen of Heaven. Notable symbolic details include the single sandal hanging by a strap (representing sinners barely holding on through devotion to Mary), the child grasping Mary’s hand (signifying her powerful intercession), and the angels conveying Christ's future suffering. The Redemptorist priests were instrumental in propagating this devotion, emphasizing Mary’s unceasing mercy.

He who best knoweth how to suffer shall possess the most peace; that man is conqueror of himself and lord of the world, the friend of Christ, and the inheritor of heaven.

Be patient with everyone, but above all with yourself...
do not be disheartened by your imperfections, but always rise up with fresh courage."

Anthony Dines With Enemies!
.
Certain heretics of Rimini decided to end the meddlesome interference of Anthony in their sinful lives. His sermons had turned the attention of the people to their sinful excesses and the only solution was to get rid of the friar. Poison was the easiest way. So they invited the Saint to dinner, planning to poison his food. But God revealed their plans to their intended victim.
Anthony still came to dine. Before he sat down at table he told his enemies of their plot. But they only laughed at him, reminding Anthony of Christ's promise to His disciples, "And if they drink of any poisonous drink, it shall not harm them." If he would eat the poisonous food without harm, they would return to the Faith. Anthony blessed the food and ate it without harm. The heretics confessed their sins and made good their promise.

Pope Pius XII Deleted All References To Our Lady As “Co-Redemptrix”
Fr. Charles Balić was a Franciscan theologian and a consultor to the Holy Office under Pope Pius XII. He was also President of the International Marian Academy. Later on he was appointed (by the Vatican II “Church”) to be a theological expert at Vatican II. According to Yves Congar (who was a significant figure at Vatican II), “Balić told us that [Pope] Pius XII had deleted the word Co-Redemptrix in all the documents bearing this title and had replaced it by ‘Socia Christi Redemptoris’ (Associate of Christ the Redeemer).” (Yves Congar, My Journal Of The Council, Liturgical Press, 2012, p. 72).
Pius XII never used the term “Co-Redemptrix” as pope. He probably recognized that the term is indeed inaccurate and problematic, and that’s why he deleted it from drafts. For a full treatment of this matter, see our video called: Is Mary The “Co-Redemptrix”? – A Catholic Analysis.
