@PennePipstop@TorstenBell Taxes are not savings accounts; in particular National Insurance contributions are not saved up for people's use at a later stage. It's always been a PAYG system - this year's contributions pay this year's expenses.
Plus, must people couldn't accrue enough for ยฃ220/wk for life
@Briantolley10@TorstenBell Nobody "pays in" to a state pension. The state pension amount does not relate to the amount of taxes you paid.
It would be a pretty miserable existence throughout your working age to plan to live on Pension Credit.
@ArthursNanny@TorstenBell Nobody pays tax twice on their state pension.
But pensioners pay less tax for the same income than the working people who fund the ยฃ31bn. That's because the working people pay the same income tax plus a tax called NI.
@PennePipstop@TorstenBell Those who pay the ยฃ31 billion never got any WFA themselves, have a higher state pension age, and are subject to the same inflation.
Pls don't retort with "they can earn money from work" because pensioners could also earn money from work.
@DEH27250342@TorstenBell There is now zero reason why recent and new female pensioners should get less state pension than a man of the same age. Granted, there are historic differences because some women chose to rely on 60% of their husband's state pension, or to never look at their NI record.
@PMGallagher1 It's a great shame that the Press won't report objectively about the pros and cons of GLP-1 drugs and instead just engage in scaremongering.
BTW, Mounjaro contains tirzepatide, not torzapetide (which I don't believe exists). In the UK, it's more popular than semaglutide, too.
@TalentCoop@WASPI_Campaign@Kevin_Maguire There is also zero legal entitlement to any compensation regarding SPA increases. The PHSO does not make laws, nor does the PHSO have powers over the nation's finances.
@TalentCoop@WASPI_Campaign@Kevin_Maguire Yep, I am 100% familiar with the legislation which applies to state pension entitlement. Nobody, incl #WASPI is eligible for state pension before they reach their SPA, which is also clearly defined in law. Already reconfirmed by the High Court and Court of Appeal 5 years ago.
@TalentCoop@WASPI_Campaign@Kevin_Maguire The actual insult is that the #WASPI expect their children and grandchildren to fork out billions for them, even though #WASPI have no legal entitlement to this extra money.
@mckegg_stewart@WASPI_Campaign@Kevin_Maguire The pension wasn't paid for 6 years, for SOME of the #WASPI, because the law says they are not entitled to it. It doesn't get paid for 7 or 8 years for tens of millions of younger women. Many #WASPI have been in receipt of SP for over 13 years by now. #FactsMatter
@PeterTatchell@WASPI_Campaign@RachelReevesMP@PHSOmbudsman The PHSO has always been clear that they are NOT recommending compensation for the loss of up to 6 years SP. It's all about alleged maladmin in the DWP.
It is unlikely that any #WASPI can furnish evidence that the alleged maladmin caused a financial loss for them.
