Hey guys 🩷🖤
Just a quick note. I’ve only authorized two people who asked me personally to have copies of my fics (via Google Docs).
I haven’t authorized my works being uploaded anywhere else, especially not for profit. So if you see them on other sites, they were shared without my permission and I’d appreciate it if you’d let me know.
Thank you for understanding 🩷🖤
So just a heads up on this: There are a number of LLCs that were registered yesterday and all mysteriously scraping and creating similar sites that all have the same cache of our materials. The newest offender has yet to "load in batches", meaning they are actively making more.
It's not enough we just had that mess with https://t.co/GiFzxnKT23 now we have another one targeting specifically black creators from ao3. I've found 3 of my usernames and fics I'd orphaned or put on private on this site.
Ok so we have:
-Google drive discourse
-Fic writers considering deleting fics once ao3 is back
-A scam website legit stealing personal ao3 user info, using a shit ton of ai and profiting off of it
And it hasnt even been 5 days...
Is it mean to say that I don't believe this for a second?
Why would you lie about paying the authors? How do you got acces to drafts and deleted works? This is so weird
UPDATE on ao3(.)life:
OTW is aware of the site and is already taking action. They’ve asked people NOT to send personal information, and they do not need additional reports about this right now — more reports may only bog things down.
https://t.co/xcNDPRRnPU
please DO NOT give these people the e-mail associated with your ao3 accounts. since this is monetized and directly referencing them, it’s more likely that ao3 and their legal team themselves can work on a takedown request, or at least provide instructions on how to do it safely. DO NOT DOXX YOURSELF TO AN AI SLOP SITE.
The site's footer has no terms or privacy links and names no one responsible. There's also no way to know who is holding that money. I've seen no evidence linking it to AO3's security incident, but it doesn't need one to be a problem. 5/5
The domain's current registration dates from Nov 1, three days after AO3 went down, yet the site claims 15.8 million works. You can't copy that from an AO3 that's offline: the content was already saved before this site appeared. 1/5
@7erracotta Contact the domain host instead, you don't have to use your AO3 email, only provide proof of your ownership of the content and include all the offending links in one email.
To get paid, authors must email the site from the address on their AO3 account, leave a note on their AO3 profile and say how they want to be paid. With AO3 down, they can't leave the note. And that email would tie their pseudonym to their email address. 4/5
"we stole your fics and sold them without your consent but only because we wanted to HELP you! we're the good guys we promise! just send us your bank info, it's totally safe!! 😀"
this is crazy JKNWDKJNWD
please report the theft of intellectual property for financial gain being perpetrated by https://t.co/zmR2CTVIYX at the below email. This isn’t just a concern for authors, but for ao3 and fan content itself. Making money off of fan content is illegal. This puts us all at risk.
God it makes me so sad and frustrated to read the war between writers and readers since the AO3 thing happened. Fandom is a community that SHARES, built on respect and mutual love for a ship/show.
Appreciate your writers and appreciate your readers. Fuck AI. Done.

I've seen some concerns about AI and fic reposts. This was only ever meant to help us keep reading while AO3 is down, so I set up a quick page explaining what's done to keep AI crawlers out and how authors can have their work taken down.

Thank you for all the support you've shared! We have no further updates beyond our earlier October 30 post, but keep an eye on official #OTW channels! While #AO3 is down, we wanted to share some internet safety reminders with all of you. Read more at: https://t.co/fw6oUxtKrn
