There is a lot of “Paraguay isn’t very good” talk. Full stop.
Under Alfaro, they lost just once in WCQ and went 9 straight without defeat. They beat URG, Brazil, & Argentina.
They were one of the best defensive teams in the 🌎.
Paraguay isn’t bad.
#USMNT made them look bad.
@Frank_Cusumano Many would schedule SLU but you have to do it on the road. What P5 team would want to play them before this year? Low reward/high risk as they’ve been mediocre. Get consistently good to where there’s enough to gain for teams to come (and it’s not a bad loss) & they will schedule
@WestPineBills I get you’re excited - Being good at the mid major level = your players getting picked off by NIL & eventually your coach too. As much as they might want to stay it’s hard to say no to multi million $. Also aware you have “A” huge donor, but the big dogs have many of those
@JoelrlHall SLU would be at best the third option to add out of that conference if you look at sustained success. A good year with zero noteworthy wins and a weak schedule I’d imagine doesn’t move the needle for the BE.
@dandakich Dakich, what about fixing IU bball? 2 tourneys in 9 years? 1 elite 8 in last 24 years? With all that money and brand name? 🤨. The General ain’t walking through that door….
@ballahgabe Yeah sounds like they are begging SLU to join - oh wait didn’t Schmitt the Senator write begging to add SLU? Bet that would have been necessary if the BE wanted SLU so bad. Would love Dayton and VCU though, programs that actually add value
@JonRothstein Awesome start. But can we pump the brakes on how good SLU is? Their best win is against Santa Clara, who hasn’t made the tourney in 30 years.
@JackGodar Hilarious. 1 conference title in the past 12 years and talking about being the “Gonzaga of the Midwest”. Great start but schedule as you know = suspect. In legit conf you’d be 500 at best. With a legit non conf prob another 2-3 losses. Careful what you wish for on big east.
