Hydrogen is among Namibia’s key priority sectors to drive economic growth, skills development & employment creation. Participation in the summit is thus key for engaging global industry experts, businesses & governments that have made major progress in the hydrogen production2/3
He said the question is no longer whether Namibia can participate in the global green hydrogen economy, but how quickly the country can move to implementation at scale, adding that Europe’s urgent need for reliable & sustainable energy makes the Namibia–EU partnership strategic.
NPC Executive Director, I-Ben Nashandi, says the Namibia's green hydrogen sector has moved beyond ambition, with clear policy direction anchored in the latest National Development Plan 6, and supported by a growing pipeline of projects 1/2
“Let us carry forward the momentum, partnerships, & practical commitments that have emerged over the past two days,” he said, while reaffirming that Namibia remains open & ready for partnerships that promote industrial development, innovation, sustainability, & shared prosperity.
Director General Dr. Kaire Mbuende said the signing of the renewed MoU between Namibia & the EU, together with the commitments to implement the roadmap, marks a renewed sense of urgency in advancing the various activities & commitments envisaged under the strategic framework 1/3
He was speaking at the closing of the EU–Namibia Business Forum, noting that initiatives under the new framework will support institutional strengthening, standards development, local authority capacity building, & critical raw materials strategy development, among others 2/3

NPC’s core functions include setting development priorities, formulating NDPs, coordinating policies, strengthening monitoring & evaluation, and mobilising international cooperation to support Namibia’s socio-economic development.3/3
Today, the National Planning Commission (NPC) hosted the NUST Economics Society. Students were introduced to NPC’s role in driving Namibia’s development, including the formulation of National Development Plans (NDPs) and opportunities in public policy and planning. 1/3
Executive Director I-Ben Nashandi emphasised that NPC focuses on economic development and measuring development outcomes, rather than economic growth alone. Presentations were delivered by NPC economists working across key divisions.2/3
DG Amb. Dr. Kaire Mbuende met with UNAM for an update on the M&E system being developed to support NDP 6 implementation. The system will enable real-time tracking and improve reporting efficiency. Development is at an advanced stage & Government looks forward to its rollout.
