Today is a day that I have dreamed about since I have started training. Le Frimeur landing my first Grade One victory is a day that will stay with me forever. Very well done to his owners Simon Munir and Isaac Souede and a brilliant ride from JJ.

Truly a day I will never ever forget. Well done to all of my team who work so hard to make it possible, especially Issy who rides him everyday.

Queens Gamble, a listed bumper, hurdle and steeplechase winner and darling of the Frost and Galvin families has returned home safely to Ladyswood Stud today. Here she is this afternoon reunited with her dam Gambling Girl. Amazingly special moments ❤️

I think we will all miss Ryan Moore for the rest of the flat season and perhaps it is a good time for me to pass on a couple of my observations of this great jockey, who is rarely criticised for his ability in the saddle, but is often lambasted for being reserved and perhaps appearing to have an air of diffidence (I just think he’s one step ahead), such is the nature of social media.
I have noticed how much of a horseman Ryan is (like the rest of the family) and how much he loves and cares about the horses and how much mental preparation goes into his rides and performing at his optimum. I don’t always photograph what I see as was the case at York recently re. Minnie Hauk, as I don’t want to appear to be intrusive. However, the couple of photos below perhaps show a side of Ryan that not many people see.
The first photo was at York in 2020 when LOVE was a very strong favourite for the Yorkshire Oaks and I noticed Ryan, on his own, coming out of the racecourse to the area before the horses enter the pre-parade, to assess her mood, how she looked, and to get a general feel for her frame of mind. No cameras, no telly, just a professional doing his job. LOVE even seems to acknowledge him in the photo. LOVE went on to win nicely with the future Arc winner Alpinista (33/1) back in second.
The second photo was at Newmarket in 2022 when Luxembourg lost his unbeaten record when 3rd to Coreobus in the 2000 Guineas. He really shaped like a Derby horse that day but an injury prevented him from taking his chance. The photo shows Ryan in the wash down area of the Rowley Mile coming to check on his horse after the race. I think Ryan is the only jockey I recall seeing do this. Like I said, away from the cameras and the media, just genuine sincerity and care for his horses.
I wish Ryan a speedy recovery and perhaps an enforced lay-off may not be a bad thing. I look forward to seeing him fully recovered and running up the winners again very soon. Take care, Ryan. We will miss you and the horses will miss you too.
