Arsenal had offered Vini Jnr one of the biggest packages in the history of the PL.

Conversations around being the face of PL, sky rocketing his brand economically and globally and a true chance at winning the Ballon d'Or. He was presented with testing himself in the best league in the world and leading Arsenal for another UCL push.

I have been critical of some of our movements in this market but this? The ownership / Berta / Mikel did absolutely everything to bring the best LW in world football to Arsenal.

When the time is right we will talk about the backstory because it was a rollercoaster. The club, even as recent as yesterday were supremely confident because of the package and conversations they had with the player directly and his camp.

Ultimately, the player is set to renew while Arsenal assess the market to bolster their attack and defence.

The baseball being played these days is straight up garbage. You’re telling me a guy hitting 30 homers and batting .202 deserves $70 million? Is that even a ballplayer? In today’s game, you take 7 at bats and strikeout 5 times and still cash a massive contract.

Back in my day, if I was sitting near 100 strikeouts late in the season, I’d be right next to Jeter asking, “How many you got?” A couple days before the end, he’d say, “Jorge, you’re at 97.” I’d go up there swinging at the first or second pitch just so I wouldn’t reach 100.

Now? These guys strike out 300 times and nobody says a word. My on base percentage was close to .400. Those numbers? You barely even see them anymore.

How do you win games? By getting on base. You either drive them in or you score. That’s the type of player we were.
