There are good and bad parts to the Dignity Act right now, but amendments could make it not only more palatable but effective. I've already sent a letter to @WhiteHouse with a detailed and comprehensive plan similar to this, hopefully the intern doesn't just skip it๐

Why the Dignity Act is kind of good, and where it needs more work.
We need a solution to illegal immigration now, while we Republicans are still in a position to do something. Rep. Salazar's Dignity Act has potential, but there're a few things it needs before it can work.
Assimilation needs to be a key part of any reform. Things like:
Making learning English mandatory
A civics/constitutional exam (which everyone should really be taking
A path to citizenship that's earned, not given
@TeamTrump47 Definitely the economy, that's a kitchen table issue that impacts everyone. Get that under control, and people have less ammunition easily available. That and Republicans in Congress actually doing something would be nice๐
My only concern would be that people would rush to get married and have kids (not the problem), but would only be doing it for the tax cut. Money shouldn't be the incentive for having kids, that's why the welfare situation in America is partially the way it is. Hopefully it works for them
@RepLuna I knew a good chunk of Congress was a bunch of degenerates, but actually hearing some of their stories and then seeing them start to face consequences (not the full extent of the law yet, but it's a start) gives me a little hope. Thanks for being one of the good ones๐ซก
I feel like a lot of people (primarily lefties, but some on the right too) are fully sold believers of 'the ends justify the means'. For Dems, equity and their definition of justice is all that matters, and if reaching their ends means committing crimes and doing evil, then it's justifiable because "we're the good guys". But the minute you have to justify your actions like that instead of the actions speaking for themselves, you lose the moral high ground.
