The MoDMR facilitated the 2nd Meeting of the National Disaster Management Advisory Committee (NDMAC). The NDMAC was activated following the SOD 2019 with technical support of the NRP DDM part.
Result Sharing & Wider dissemination workshop on Earthquake & Flood Preparedness piloting held at the Department of Disaster Management (DMM) today. Md. Atiqul Huq, DG, DDM was the chair of the event. The concerned ministry is motivated to continue to follow-on actions.

NRP supported MoDMR reviewing progress against National Plan for Disaster Management 2021-2025. Today the workshop focuses on developing a recovery plan for recent flood in Sylhet in 2022. Secretary of MoDMR said that the D-Form is an excellent tool for assessing loss & damages.
Disability Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction (DiDRR) activities have identified households having persons with disability in Ramna Model Union, Chilmari, Kurigram. Those households are shown in the map. The mapping is helpful for rescuing persons with disability during disasters.
NRP contributed in making the Standing Orders on Disaster (SOD) gender and disability inclusive. The SOD instructed how to activate Disability Inclusive Disaster Management Committees (DMC). The piloting of Disability Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction activities promoted it.
To strengthen SFDRR monitoring & reporting capacity, recently the project organized trainings for staffs (54) of MoDMR & DDM on Sendai Framework Monitor. That focused on how to collect required data; process them and their role in SFDRR monitor following the guidelines of UNDRR.
Project Director (Joint Secretary) ASM Mohiuddin Khan participated in stakeholder meetings on Earthquake Preparedness Activities in Rangamati. Recalled Barkal Earthquake (2003) took place in Rangamati with Magnitude 5.1; 3 people killed; 500 structures damaged; 3 km river eroded.
Today a training on "Sendai Framework Reporting" provided to the staffs (25) involved at Emergency Operation Center (EOC) of Department of Disaster Management (DDM). It provides an understanding on the data and information needs to provide in the Sendai Monitor (SM). #SFDRR
Today FFWC observes water level of Surma River in Sunamganj is 8.08 mMSL. The Land use plan of Sunamganj recommends a safe level for construction and new development to be considered 10 mMSL. Considering the highest level of flood has been recorded in this area is 9.29 mMSL
In Rangamati, Urban Community Volunteers (UCVs) are working with the local Fire Service Department (FSCD), local administration & municipal authorities and are involved in awareness activities, evacuation and relief distribution programs in the landslide-prone areas.
Community Volunteers of Flood Preparedness Programm (FPP) are in action, FPP volunteers helping out flood-affected people to reach nearby shelters in Kurigram.
