Our Kampala South Branch team is on the ground supporting mobilisation for the ongoing Measles-Rubella Immunisation Campaign, running from 1–5 October.
The team is supporting communities in Masajja Kibira A and Masajja Kibira B, Makindye Ssaabagabo Municipality, engaging schools, families and communities and encouraging parents and caregivers to ensure all eligible children receive the Measles-Rubella vaccine.
Working alongside approved @GovUganda health structures, we are helping reach children where they live and learn, contributing to the national immunisation effort to protect children from vaccine-preventable diseases.

Celebrating International Youth Day Through Service and Solidarity!
International Youth Day is a reminder that young people are not only leaders of tomorrow, they are agents of change today.
In celebration of the day, Uganda Red Cross Kampala South Branch volunteers and youth leaders, together with the Red Cross Link at St. Denis Ssebugwawo Secondary School, Ggaba, took part in a meaningful community service activity aimed at giving back to families within Ggaba Parish.
The team supported 11 selected families with essential household items, including soap, sugar, tea leaves, mosquito nets, toilet tissue and rice.
Beyond the items donated, the activity was about showing love, restoring hope and standing in solidarity with families in need. The smiles and appreciation from the beneficiaries reminded us that sometimes, the greatest impact comes from simply showing up and caring.
We commend the Kampala South Branch and Link leadership for mobilising resources and empowering young volunteers to make a difference in their community.
This is the spirit of youth leadership we celebrate—young people serving, caring and creating positive change where it matters most.

Prevention starts with awareness.
Uganda Red Cross Society is conducting Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) sensitisation at Ggaba Landing Site in Makindye Division, Kampala District, equipping community members with the knowledge they need to protect themselves, their families, and their communities.
Our volunteers are educating residents on the causes, signs and symptoms, modes of transmission, and practical prevention measures, while encouraging early reporting of suspected cases and dispelling misinformation.
Community awareness is one of the most effective tools in preventing the spread of Ebola. Together, through timely information, vigilance, and collective action, we can help keep our communities safe.
Stay informed. Stay alert. Prevent Ebola.

Uganda Red Cross Empowers Youth with First Aid & Fire Safety Skills at Kisaakaate kya Nnabagereka
Today, our team conducted an interactive First Aid and Fire Safety session during the ongoing "Kisaakaate kya Nnabagereka" at Hormisdallen Schools, Gayaza. The engagement focused on promoting volunteering, community responsibility, and safety preparedness among young participants.
The session equipped attendees with essential life-saving skills, including basic first aid response, emergency preparedness, and fire prevention. Participants were trained on how to safely respond to common emergencies such as burns, cuts, choking, fainting, and fire outbreaks, all vital skills for both personal safety and community service.
The trainers also shared the Red Cross Fundamental Principles, which strongly resonated with the Kisaakaate theme, “Obuntubulamu” (good character and values), reinforcing the importance of humanity, service, and responsibility.
This initiative underscores our commitment to building resilient communities by nurturing a culture of safety, preparedness, and volunteerism among young people—especially during large cultural gatherings such as the Kisaakaate kya Nnabagereka.
We believe these young people are the future humanitarians.
