I don’t acknowledge enough how lucky I am to be an artist.
The freedom and ability to turn my inspiration into reality is something I shouldn’t take for granted.
My materiel circumstances isn’t what I ultimately desire, yet I possess the key ingredient — creative freedom.
Tweeting with zero followers is hilarious.
It’s just notes-to-self, which is perfect!
I’m under no illusion that I have anything of value to say — yet.
Maybe at some point I will. Maybe along the way somebody will be interested in following along.
Doesn’t really matter.
This has resulted in a renewed sense of inspiration and drive to create — it feels like the only option I have.
And maybe that’s just the frame I needed.
Anyone else feel like creating (art, content, products, etc) is now an imperative?
Music was always something I felt I needed to do, but in the sense that it’s something I enjoy, which makes life more meaningful.
I never looked to it as something to sustain me on its own.
But now, as hiring slows for economic reasons and AI looms large over the types of jobs I studied for, creative work seems to be the only safe bet.
Monetizing art remains a challenge, but at least my efforts have some innate value, if only for myself.
Sometimes I find myself frantically looking around trying to figure out what I ought to be doing.
But then I remember that I’ve set my whole life up around this one thing. Everything’s gonna be ok, just do the work.
Focus is important, and I pride myself on my ability to enter and sustain deep focus.
Issue is, I’ve been focused on learning about all the things I COULD be doing, rather than the one thing I’m actually trying to do.
