🚨 Excl: US military says it has "no way of knowing" if a deadly 2024 airstrike used AI targeting, after an investigation proved it did.
Raises urgent fears US cannot account for use of AI in Iran strikes.

On page 2, two independent investigative journalists from the UK, Namir Shabibi & Claire Lauterbach, offer five tips you should know about phone surveillance in Kenya.
A must read - very informative piece by @nshabibi and C Lauterbach on things to know about phone surveillance, including how one can be tracked to within 5 metres.
... and how the Kenyan police routinely access people's sensitive data without a warrant.

A new podcast by @nshabibi reveals fresh details about the secret CIA war in Kenya. It confirms that the CIA has been working with the GSU Recce Company since the 1980s and that the agency’s creation of the Rapid Response Team (RRT), a paramilitary unit, in 2004 was part of a broader global strategy involving proxy forces. In 2012, security officers fatally shot Omar Faraj at his Mombasa residence during the night. An investigation conducted by a British investigative journalist, @nshabibi, uncovered that Faraj was, in reality, slain by a paramilitary commando team created, trained, equipped, and guided by the CIA under the guise of 'counterterrorism' operations.
In 2021, @MUHURIkenya pursued legal action over the unlawful killing. The verdict has been delivered: "the killing was unwarranted... unjustifiable and unlawful."
This marks a significant victory for the Faraj family. While the ruling cannot undo their loss, it underscores a crucial point: the wrongful death of an innocent individual cannot occur without consequences.
Credit is due to @MUHURIkenya for spearheading this legal pursuit, and to @nshabibi for revealing CIA and MI6’s covert war in Kenya.

In 2012, British-Somali, Mahdi Hashi was disappeared in Djibouti, and faced interrogation in secret detention by a 'dirty team' from the US, before being rendered to New York.
All after his UK citizenship was stripped.
We investigated and found MI6 involvement - throughout:
- MI6 provided the CIA with a dossier on Hashi
- It knew exactly where Hashi was being detained, and waited 3 km away for "raw" debriefs
- 'No coincidence' his citizenship was stripped before enforced disappearance
- Hashi alleges threats of torture were used against him
We analysed 105 front pages from five major western news outlets and found routine and clinical dehumanisation of Palestinians, with one Israeli pundit even getting away with genocidal commentary live on the BBC

Fascinating report on Kenyan paramilitary unit RRT that apparently serves, in part, as a CTPT-style surrogate unit for the CIA: “it puts a unit under our control for when we have targets that we feel need to go down,” a former CIA official told @nshabibi https://t.co/gcCskeIVVz
Kenyan paper The Star carries Declassified UK's world exclusive on the CIA and MI6's secret war in the country on its frontpage today.
Kenyan police spokesman calls Declassified's report "malicious and serving certain interests".
