“To confront hatred and extremism is not a Jewish responsibility, it is a national responsibility. We have to do this together” Acting President Adrian Cohen speaking at the rally against antisemitism today outside Downing Street.
“Of course, we've been seeing the government investing in protecting our communities, putting those walls up, putting guards there. But in many ways, we're locking up the wrong people. We're locking up Jews inside our buildings rather than making sure that we're tackling the prejudice."
“But what was really important about today's summit is partnership, because this is not just about our community or government or the police, it's about whole of society coming forward and saying this is unacceptable. “
President of the Board of Deputies @PhilR_R spoke on @BBCPolitics Live today about the Summit at Number 10 with senior government ministers and civil society leaders.
“We need to see a gear change - from protection to prevention, from defence to attack”.
President @PhilR_R appeared on @BBCPolitics#PoliticsLondon today, addressing the rise in antisemitism and the recent horrific terrorist attack in Golders Green.
My friend @MichaelWegier is absolutely correct: This is an attack on Britain. British values, British society & British citizens are under attack.
This terrorist attack on a Jewish neighbourhood in London is the latest example of the heinous, global threat we face in Canada.
“All people in Britain … need to rise up and crush this virus of antisemitism” - Board Chief Executive Michael Wegier speaking to @TVNaga01 on @BBC5Live
We pray for the victims of today’s antisemitic terror attack in London and for their recovery.
This attack is shocking, but not surprising. It’s the result of radicalization, support for terrorism, and unchecked antisemitism.
Canada is not immune. Our intelligence services warn the same drivers are here. And just recently we’ve seen an assault in front of a synagogue, an attack on a Jewish business, and coordinated campaigns against Jewish schools.
We know where this leads. It must be confronted now—before lives are lost.
CIJA Welcomes Increased Security Support in Spring Economic Statement
CIJA CEO @nshack issued the following statement:
“We welcome the government’s strengthening of the Canada Community Security Program – more than doubling its funding allocation over five years from $60M to $135M. This is a significant step forward in safeguarding Canada’s Jewish community. We also recognize Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree for his leadership in working directly with our community across the country.
“Since the Hamas-led massacre of October 7, threats targeting our community have continued to escalate. Canada’s security agencies have warned that a violent attack against the Jewish community is a realistic possibility in the coming months. It’s essential that government programs evolve to meet this challenge head-on.
“Today’s announcement, together with the recent $10 million in emergency funding for the Jewish community, represents Canada’s most substantial investment in community security to date. These investments are essential for the future of Jewish life in this country, helping community institutions that are increasingly forced to divert resources away from education, social services, and childcare to meet urgent security needs.
“At the same time, Canadians should not accept a future where some communities must build higher walls while hate and extremism go unchecked.
“That is why we continue to call on governments and law enforcement to confront the sources of the serious threats we face – by countering the foreign interference fuelling radicalization, strengthening measures against the promotion of terrorism, and ensuring that existing laws are consistently enforced and offenders held to account.”
From the murders at Bondi Beach and a synagogue in Manchester to recent shootings at synagogues in Toronto, violent antisemitic attacks have surged across the globe since 10/7.
ADL's Susan Heller-Pinto sat down with J7 partners — @ECAJewry's Daniel Aghion, @BoardofDeputies' @PhilR_R and @CIJAinfo's @nshack — to discuss the situations of their country's Jewish communities today. #NLS2026
As our Prime Ministers meet in London, British and Canadian Jewish leaders are meeting on the sidelines of the @ADL#NeverIsNow Conference in New York, tackling antisemitism and extremism and promoting Jewish pride together.
🇬🇧 🤝 🇨🇦
Thank you, Premier @fordnation, for your leadership and moral clarity for directing the Attorney General to pursue an injunction against the Al-Quds Day demonstration.
Your leadership and decisive action mean a great deal to the Jewish community and to all Ontarians.
Thank you, Premier Ford, for joining us in Thornhill this morning to hear my community’s concerns.
Open hatred should not be tolerated. We are standing up for Canadian values — standing up for what is right, standing up for what is just.
I remain unwavering in this fight. I will not back down — not in my community, not anywhere in our province.
Premier @fordnation has demonstrated the moral courage to confront this hateful antisemitic protest.
Violent rhetoric like "Globalize the Intifada" is a call to action for violence and dehumanization of Jews everywhere.
ALL of us — of all faiths — cannot sit on the sidelines as increasing attacks on synagogues, Jewish schools, or the Bondi Beach massacre become normalized.
This is a moment to stand up for Canada's longstanding democratic and pluralistic values, and stand against those who call for the destruction of Western Values, and "death to Canada."
Not in our country.
Never again.
I want to thank Premier @fordnation for taking action by instructing the Attorney General to seek an injunction to prevent the Al-Quds Day rally.
This is a critical moment in our province and country, and leaders at all levels need to be decisive in defence of Jewish Canadians who have been unfairly targeted and terrorized since October 7th, 2023. Anti-semitism and Jew hatred can never be tolerated or glossed over and ignored.
We commend the Premier of Ontario @fordnation and the provincial government for taking decisive action to stop the Al Quds Day rally planned for tomorrow, Saturday, March 14 in Toronto. The province will be filing an emergency injunction to protect public safety.
In the past week alone, there have been six incidents of gunfire targeting synagogues, Jewish and Iranian-owned businesses, and the United States Consulate in Toronto, the planned location for this rally.
Amidst rising threats and violence, every level of government must use every tool available to ensure the safety of residents.

Three shootings at GTA synagogues in one week! This isn’t just about the safety of one community—it’s about the future of our cities, our provinces, and our country.
It's time for all Canadians to push back.
Go to https://t.co/fCm5XX2tU9 to take action right now, and stay tuned for more ways to hold our elected officials accountable.
An important conversation at Temple Emanu-el, in a room just beyond its bullet-riddled entrance. The federal government’s community security program requires immediate reform to keep Canadians safe.

Yesterday in Ottawa, Survivors, elected officials, diplomats, and community leaders came together to mark International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
As our CEO @NShack shared at the commemoration, the day is not only about honouring the past — it should also be a call to action for all Canadians to confront rising hate and extremism.
