Thanks be to God for the great mystery β that through Christ, all our offerings are made acceptable, and that His power is made perfect in, not despite of, our weakness.
Thought I'd check in with X for the first time in a while. Yikes, it's like a river of depression. You guys on here regularly, are you numb to it or something?
Memento mori - remember you must die. But the bible says we are eternal beings - after death comes judgement. And only Christ can save us from our sins and make us alive forever with our God. It is beyond comprehension that God offers us grace. Take hold of it now. Memento mori.

Let the trembling soul recall:
The LORD shall laugh, whose kingdom stands
So far above them all!"Β

Risen today - and every day. We usually say "Christ IS Risen" - not "Christ WAS raised". Yes, it happened once - once upon a time. But the implications are for today.Β "Christ is alive forever. We are, because He is" - Kenyan Liturgy
Christ the Lord is risen today, Alleluia!Β
Sons of men and angels say, Alleluia!Β
Raise your joys and triumphs high, Alleluia!Β
Sing, ye heavens, and earth reply, Alleluia!
Jesus was not surprised by the timing or manner of His death. It was not somehow a gambit that didn't pay off. He was not pinning his hopes on the goodness of men, or the faithfulness of friends.
To avoid lacklustre sung worship, you need two things - a congregation ready to "mine for gold", and music that contains rich seams of God's truth, there for the taking. It's not a passive activity, but the music leaders should make the effort as rewarding as possible.
"Rooted in Scripture" - this is always my goal. It is most helpful to know that you are singing songs that closely reflect God's revealed truth, and not just someone's motivational rhetoric.
When we arrive at church, our hearts might feel tender and bruised, or rusted over and seizing up. God's truth is the balm we need - *singing* it can be the way that we invite the Holy Spirit to bind up, or stir up our hearts as we draw near to our Saviour.
Singing Scriptureβs blessings over one another in worship is a powerful prayer. We may not always have the words to pray, but the prayers of the apostles help us with that.
