#CONTEXT: Let’s distinguish between the cost of the expressway itself and the cost of additional infrastructure that was originally planned under a separate project.

The estimated UGX 1.3 tn relates to the Busega–Mpigi Expressway. However, the additional estimate of approx UGX 700 bn relates to the proposed Busega Systems Interchange, which was originally planned under the Kibuye–Busega Expressway Project.

The proposed interchange is intended to connect the Busega–Mpigi Expressway to the Kampala Northern Bypass, Kampala–Entebbe Expressway, Kampala–Masaka Highway, the existing Kibuye–Natete–Busega corridor and in future, Kibuye-Busega expressway.

This interchange is also intended to alleviate traffic congestion at Busega.

So as financing for the Kibuye–Busega Expressway is still being pursued, @GovUganda is considering implementing the interchange together with the ongoing Busega–Mpigi Expressway to ensure the expressway is fully connected to the wider road network and delivers its intended traffic decongestion benefits, than completing it and it connects to nowhere …if that happens no one will forgive us!

@aziteklife @AKasingye Driver judgement was poor. There measures Govt can take to stop poor judgment; Barriers. You can't assure me URC or MOWT can not afford to have Railway barriers at crossings and a few stuff to operate them when the train is about to cross. Let Govt do what is right.
