One of the most interesting media stories of the cycle is how Minock, a Sinclair station reporter (and former GOP coms staffer), has shaped coverage of Democrats' LGBTQ policies in Virginia.
It was Minock who did the early Spanberger segment where her campaign didn't clarify her schools/women's spaces position. He later asked Spanberger about it on camera, and was filmed not being able to follow up as she hustled into her campaign car - video Republicans shared on social media.
Guzman's bill, mentioned in this ad, was introduced in Oct. 2022. The Washington Post reported at the time that it became a GOP target after "a TV report, which said Guzman wanted parents to face criminal charges if 'they do not affirm their child’s sexual orientation and gender identity.'"
The TV reporter who wrote that language? Nick Minock.
In each case, other (and more liberal) outlets were not covering Democrats' gender policies as controversial or potential political problems for their party. For example, the Post noted that Guzman's bill "barely made a stir when she first submitted it." A very different view of 1) which side is the protagonist in the LGBTQ policy story and 2) what might be a problem with voters.
If you’re a parent, vote for @winwithwinsome.
Winsome Earle-Sears will stand up for the privacy and safety of your children. Abigail Spanberger made it clear she will not. It’s that simple.
I must bring to your attention a pressing concern... the same police exodus that has occurred elsewhere is likely to happen in Virginia as well if Democrats like Ghazala Hashmi win.
Criminal justice reform must prioritize actual justice, rather than serving as a means to release criminals or exact revenge against law enforcement officers, potentially leading to personal financial ruin and incarceration.
Why is my opponent Ghazala Hashmi not being asked about her stance on Mamdani and whether her progressive policies in Virginia align with Mamdani’s socialist vision in New York City?
This is a legitimate and pertinent question.
I am frequently asked to differentiate myself from Trump, evangelicals, and GOP congressional leaders. Why can't Ghazala Hashmi be expected to engage in a nuanced discussion on complex issues, such as those related to Mamdani?
Or does she just get a pass on everything important?
In our competitive society, where it seems that only the strong and winners deserve to live, sport also teaches us how to lose. It forces us, in learning the art of losing, to confront our fragility, our limitations and our imperfections. It is through the experience of these limits that we open our hearts to hope. Athletes who never make mistakes, who never lose, do not exist.
🚨🚨BREAKING: At the direction of @GovernorVA, I am opening an investigation into Loudoun County Public Schools.
This is about safety and privacy, not political correctness—and it’s time Loudoun County recognized that.
Tonight I resigned from the Virginia LGBTQ+ Advisory Board. One of the core values of the Republican party is that government should stay out of the lives of individuals-not just when it's politically convenient.
Winsome Earle-Sears is the American Dream. Her lifetime of service to God, Family, Country and Commonwealth has prepared her to take the Governor’s mansion this fall and keep Virginia winning. Proud of my good friend and amazing partner @winwithwinsome for officially securing the Republican nomination. Let’s get to work!
Virginia Democrats are failing to protect families from registered sex offenders who work within their radical gender policies so they can expose themselves to kids.
As Attorney General, my job is to enforce the law and protect Virginians — especially our kids.
Don’t be fooled. Youngkin and Miyares are shouting from their personal, not official, accounts because this is what the VA GOP is running on for the ‘25 election —> bullying children.
And while he can’t run for reelection, Youngkin will tie every VA Repub. to these actions.
The sad reality: the young girls watching Trump while he signs the EO will also be impacted. And many of them will wonder why their friends are no longer playing sports with them.
This EO would impact probably a dozen athletes in Virginia. The cruelty is absolutely the point.
