@SecScottBessent This is a
comment of a Premier Takaichi’s close adviser, Takahashi. This is just information for you. Many of Japanese wish to kick him out as soon as possible.
Yoichi Takahashi — the “Weak Yen Is Just Fine” uncle who was spewing abusive remarks on TV — apparently didn’t get enough of it on television, because he’s repeating the same wild claims on his own channel.
“It’s possible that Bessent boastfully told Trump, ‘I’m putting pressure on Japan.’”
“Then Trump said something like, ‘Is it okay to give Sanae that much trouble?’”
“And then I think he said, ‘Wouldn’t it be fine for America to cut rates?’”
This guy says that when Bessent tells Japan to “raise interest rates,” it’s “for America’s national interest.” But when Trump says rates should be cut, he suddenly doesn’t treat it as a statement made for America’s national interest — he claims it’s “so as not to trouble Sanae.” No matter how you look at it, that doesn’t add up 🤣
Note: Trump has indeed said things like “LOWER THE RATE” and “We should have the LOWEST RATE of any country in the World.” But that’s because employment data was strong and high interest rates are not in America’s interest — he’s saying it for America’s national interest. There’s no way it’s for Sanae or Japan.
