#Trump proposed imposing up to 20% tariffs on US imports from all countries & 60% on imports from China. @NTamberi's simulations show that under this policy total US imports of goods & services could fall by 37% & US real GDP could fall by $680 billion in case of retaliation.
The pyfixest package has come so far so quickly, it really is amazing. Recently, @s3alfisc added a way to output beautiful publication-ready regression tables using stargazer 🤩
In 2015, a consequential election delivered a majority for Brexit. In 2024, we can now study the economic impact of Brexit with data up to 2022. This is a thread in which I try to go full circle back to the origins of Brexit. But let me comment before on what we observe so far:
Great piece. Looking at firms confirmed what many thought and what theory predicts: small firm exit but large ones are stable. Result: no Brexit effect in aggregate data.

Analysis of #TradeData through comparison can sometimes be misleading. It is more enlightening to think in terms of changes rather than levels, look at deviations from trends and compare changes with other countries before attributing causation @NTamberi 👇https://t.co/jcyhonWCaq
