RE: Who is NOT an American?

Remember a few weeks back and all the hullabaloo over “Heritage Americans” and what it takes to become an American?

The debate basically centered around whether or not in order to truly be an American one needed to: (i) have a familial stake in the nation going back generations or (ii) only adopt the IDEA of America (the Declaration, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights,”all men are created equal,” etc.).

If you recall this was a HIGHLY contentious debate and a lot of bad blood was brewed over it. I know that for me alone my position on the matter caused over 1,000 people to unfollow me.

But you know what?

I think both sides of the debate (me included) missed the REAL issue. That is this:

Can one be an American WITHOUT personally adopting the idea of America?

And that’s the problem we’re seeing today. These Minnesota Somalians who come here for free stuff and fraud on the taxpayers? Guess what? They don’t believe in the rule of law, and that’s a huge part of being an American. Jihadists who want to take over the nation under Sharia law (particularly the subjugation of women as chattel property)? They have not adopted the IDEA of America, will never adopt the idea of America, and should not be American citizens.

Let me say this again a different way. America is not being torn apart by immigrants who adopt the American dream. Instead, it’s being torn apart by immigrants who want the BENEFITS of being American without taking on the RESPONSIBILITIES of being American. It’s being torn apart by immigrants who want the BENEFITS of being American without adopting the higher principles and ideals of what it truly means to BE American.

It’s not enough to take the citizenship oath. One must take it and MEAN it.

I don’t know the solution for this, other than that we should not be importing masses of people from failed societies who want to bring those same “failed society” principles to the USA.

We need to collectively come to grips with this before it’s too late.
