He endured brutal torture, including the deliberate breaking of his toes and ribs, by the Islamic regime in Iran to force a confession.

Security institutions have increased the pressure on the family and relatives of Reza after the death sentence was issued to Reza Rasaei by the judicial system of the Islamic Republic.
