When D.C. sought $4M to connect 55 locations, NTIA took a closer look.
After two hours of on-the-ground oversight, we found the “unserved” sites were open fields or already-connected.
Result: $0 approved. Read how it happened from @ArielleRothNTIA: https://t.co/1KfrHxyMeM
Assistant Secretary @ArielleRothNTIA toured @IridiumComm's Satellite Network Operations Center today in Leesburg, VA — getting a firsthand look at the cutting-edge technology behind their global network. Special thanks to @IridiumBoss Matt Desch for the tour!
Turns out taxing American streaming services and passing the cost on to consumers wasn’t such a great idea after all!
American innovation shouldn’t be piggy bank for foreign governments. More work remains, but this is a step in the right direction.
Today’s @FCC NPRM on E-Rate is a step in the right direction for America’s children. Grateful @NTIAgov could contribute to this effort—because federal policy should support learning and healthy development, not excessive screen time. My full statement: https://t.co/3c7pgvBnrU
For the past 20 years, @FSFthinktank has been a steadfast champion of limited government, free markets, and the rule of law. Looking forward to celebrating this milestone and sharing updates on BEAD, spectrum band studies, WRC-27 preparations, and more tomorrow!
Increased skin in the game by BEAD participants not only saved taxpayer money but also increases the chances of a successful program by minimizing defaults.
That’s exactly why we implemented our Benefit of the Bargain reforms.
D.C. Memo: Study Shows ISPs Kicked in $11.4 billion in BEAD Matching Funds, Topping 25% Legal Minimum by 12 Percentage Points | Internet providers have pledged $11.4 billion in matching funds — 37% of project costs and well above the program’s 25% minimum https://t.co/ViA0I1FhNA @NTIAgov@ArielleRothNTIA@howardlutnick

While in Texas, @ArielleRothNTIA & @TriciaPaoletta toured @ericsson's USA 5G Smart Factory & were wowed by its cutting-edge manufacturing & role in strengthening America’s wireless infrastructure. The visit comes just months after Ericsson conducted the first 6G demo in the U.S.
Congratulations to @Dr_Haridopolos and her team on the rollout of this important @HHSGov advisory & toolkit addressing the harms of unhealthy screen use among children. This is exactly the kind of common-sense leadership American families deserve. 1/3
What a treat to meet with the great @UnderSecPD Sarah Rogers today and brainstorm on promoting American tech leadership, empowering parents over bureaucrats, and defending free expression. 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸
.@ArielleRothNTIA joined the 6G Summit in Dallas hosted by ATIS’ Next G Alliance, where she discussed how NTIA’s work on spectrum identification for commercial use & international technical standards is setting the stage for US leadership in 6G, satellite connectivity, AI & more.
In honor of #Shabbos250 and the first home receiving broadband through the Trump Admin’s revamped BEAD program, I shared a few words of Torah on this week’s Parsha, Bamidbar.

.@ariellerothNTIA & @TeamPillen also visited the tower @vistabeam is using to provide broadband service to Ogallala through BEAD.
Thanks to advances in fixed wireless, consumers are benefiting from faster speeds over longer distances, lower costs, and quicker deployment!
My broadband team is honored to welcome @ArielleRoth—@CommerceGov Assistant Secretary and @NTIAgov Administrator—to Nebraska today to celebrate Nebraska’s first household high-speed internet connection facilitated by federal broadband funds. This is among the first such connections in America under this program, and represents the tremendous work and progress that has been made to hook up rural Nebraska to the next generation of high-speed internet.
Under @POTUS leadership, the federal broadband program has been massively reformed since the failed Biden era, optimizing it for states like ours with large rural areas needing streamlined access to broadband to support precision residential connectivity, along with precision agriculture and rural economic development.

Today, @ariellerothNTIA, @TeamPillen, @vistabeam, & local leaders visited Nebraska’s first BEAD connection. Thanks to Trump Admin restoring competition & tech neutrality, deployment is accelerating.
Congrats to Deb Armknecht on her new gigabit-speed fixed wireless service!
Congrats to our very own Doug Kinkoph for being selected for the FCBA Excellence in Government Service Award! This recognition is incredibly well deserved. Doug’s leadership has been vital to NTIA’s success in broadband policy, and I am deeply grateful to be his colleague.
