I’ll begin by saying I expect some pushback, especially because I’ll use many “could haves”. You cannot mention Pogba without the ifs and could-haves and that’s the whole point!

Pogba made the World XI in 2015 as a 22 year old alongside Iniesta and Modric. He displaced Toni Kroos from the previous XI. Juventus didn’t win the Champions League that season so Pogba earned his place on individual quality, not on the back of the UCL. He was the only Juventus player selected. At the end of that season Madrid came calling, but for some reasons, he chose to return to Man Utd, maybe to prove a point. What happened next is the biggest “could have” of all time. Madrid won the UCL three times back to back. He would have achieved more with Madrid than at Utd and likely made the World XI four times consecutively. In 2018 he could have even made a case for the Ballon d’Or.

On the flip side, Bellingham’s career could have been different. He knew that, which is why he turned down Man Utd when the club tried so hard to sign him in 2018. He joined Madrid, and the club’s structure has helped him a lot. A fair conclusion is that Bellingham made better career moves than Pogba but in terms of player quality? Pogba is miles ahead. End
