The Economic Freedom Fighters in the City of Tshwane proudly congratulates our deployees who have today been conferred with the distinguished title of Alderman in recognition of their years of service and leadership within Council.
This recognition is not merely a title. It represents years of commitment, sacrifice, leadership and dedicated service to the people of Tshwane. It is a recognition of councillors who have carried the responsibilities entrusted to them and contributed to the work of Council in different leadership capacities.
The EFF believes that political office must never be about personal privilege. It must be about service, accountability and improving the lives of ordinary people. Our deployees are expected to remain grounded in the communities that elected them and to continue fighting for a municipality that works for all its residents, particularly the working class and poor.
Alderman Obakeng Ramabodu has continued to contribute to the political and administrative work of the City through his responsibilities as a Member of the Mayoral Committee. His leadership reflects the importance of having EFF representatives actively involved in governance and ensuring that municipal programmes translate into meaningful improvements in the lives of our people.
We equally congratulate Alderman Godwin Ratikwane, whose leadership as Chairperson of the Municipal Public Accounts Committee has placed emphasis on oversight, accountability and the responsible management of public resources. Strong oversight is essential in ensuring that municipal resources are protected and that those entrusted with public funds remain answerable to the people.
We also congratulate Alderman MoAfrika Oliver Mabogwana for his contribution to the work of Council and his years of service to the people of Tshwane.
The EFF takes pride in the fact that its councillors are participating in governance while remaining committed to the principles upon which the organisation was founded. We understand that serving in government requires discipline, courage and an unwavering commitment to the public interest.
As the EFF continues to grow its footprint in the City of Tshwane, we will continue to demand a municipality that prioritises service delivery, economic opportunities, dignified living conditions, accountable governance and the empowerment of historically disadvantaged communities.
The conferment of Aldermanship on our deployees is therefore a moment of pride for the EFF, but it is also a reminder that leadership comes with greater responsibility. Recognition must inspire even greater commitment to the people.
We salute our Aldermen for their service and congratulate them on this well-deserved recognition. May they continue to serve with integrity, humility and dedication.
The EFF will continue to place the interests of the people at the centre of governance.

This is around May 2023, EFF Gauteng Chairperson, Nkululeko Dunga raising alarm over the allocation of the City of Ekurhuleni’s security detail(Bluelights) to the wife of Cat Matlala, Mrs Cat.
The @EFFSouthAfrica continues to provide superior logic and other parties follow.
It was the EFF in 2024 that proposed in our manifesto the “City of Gauteng” idea which would mean the collapse of all municipalities into one, this would mean financial consolidation and a provincial wide IDP with a common vision.
Today the @MYANC says the same thing, 2 years later and the media wants us to believe it’s their idea🙂↔️🙂↔️🙂↔️🙂↔️
Kanjani manje. At least @dailymaverick wrote on it in 2024 - everyone else is just lazy to read up on the EFF led by the @Julius_S_Malema
I warned about child trafficking, and many called me crazy. Now the Epstein files have brought these horrific issues into the spotlight. The truth must be faced, and the children must be protected.
Economic Freedom Fighters president Julius Malema says if the EFF is given an opportunity to govern, it will ensure that unemployed citizens and Sassa beneficiaries receive free basic services. https://t.co/912Ar9nM0R
