To prove socialism doesn't work, the US needs sanctions, blockades, coups, and bombs. To prove capitalism doesn't work, you just need to walk the streets of the US.

That is the argument. And it is not easily dismissed.

The US Cannot Tolerate a Successful Alternative

Cuba has been under US blockade for over 60 years. The US has tried to assassinate Fidel Castro over 600 times. It has invaded the Bay of Pigs. It has funded terrorists. It has cut off trade, travel, and medicine.

Why? Because Cuba has literacy rates higher than the US. Because Cuba sends doctors to the world's poorest countries. Because Cuba has a lower infant mortality rate than the US. Because Cuba survived the collapse of the Soviet Union and the end of its economic lifeline, and still refused to kneel.

If socialism doesn't work, you don't need to blockade it for 60 years. You just let it collapse on its own. But Cuba didn't collapse. So the US blockades it.

Venezuela has the largest oil reserves in the world. The US has sanctioned its oil, frozen its assets, recognized a fake president, and tried to assassinate its real president. Why? Because Venezuela used its oil wealth to fund social programs, reduce poverty, and build a multipolar foreign policy.

If socialism doesn't work, you don't need to sanction Venezuela into starvation. You just wait. But Venezuela didn't starve on its own. So the US sanctions it.

Iran has been under sanctions for 47 years. The US has shot down its planes, bombed its nuclear facilities, killed its scientists, targeted 85% of its oil tankers, and blocked its airlines.

If Iran is a failed state, you don't need to blockade it. You just watch. But Iran didn't fail. So the US blockades it.

The pattern is clear. The US does not blockade, sanction, and bomb failed states. It blockades, sanctions, and bombs states that are trying to build an alternative. It blockades, sanctions, and bombs states that prove the alternative can work.

Walk the Streets of the US

Walk through downtown Los Angeles. Tents. Fentanyl. Human feces. Shuttered storefronts. People with jobs sleeping in their cars.

Walk through Skid Row. 8,000 people sleeping on sidewalks. Mothers with children. Veterans with PTSD. Mentally ill left to die.

Walk through Appalachia. Opioid addiction. Collapsed coal towns. Communities that have never recovered from deindustrialization. Life expectancy lower than in Bangladesh.

Walk through Detroit. Block after block of abandoned houses. Streets with no streetlights. Schools with no books. A city that went bankrupt.

Walk through the Mississippi Delta. Some of the poorest counties in America. No hospitals. No doctors. No grocery stores. Just Dollar General and diabetes.

Walk through rural Oklahoma. Towns where the only jobs are at the prison. Towns where the water is undrinkable. Towns where children have never seen a dentist.

Walk through any American city. Check the homeless count. Check the overdose count. Check the suicide count. Check the student debt count. Check the medical bankruptcy count.

This is the richest country in human history. And this is what it looks like.

You don't need a socialist propaganda film. You just need a smartphone.

The Right-Wing Media Lies About Socialism

The right-wing media says socialism is Venezuela. That it is bread lines and dictatorship and poverty.

But what did socialism actually do?

◽The Soviet Union: Went from a feudal peasant society to a space-faring superpower in 40 years.
◽China: Went from a famine-plagued impoverished nation to the world's largest economy in 70 years.
◽Cuba: Has a higher literacy rate than the US, a lower infant mortality rate than the US, and sends doctors to the world's poorest countries.
◽Vietnam: Went from a war-devastated country to one of the fastest-growing economies in Asia.
◽Bolivia: Reduced poverty by half and extreme poverty by half under Evo Morales.

What did neoliberal capitalism do?

◽Russia in the 1990s: GDP halved. Poverty skyrocketed. Life expectancy collapsed. A few oligarchs stole everything.
◽Argentina in the 1990s: Privatized everything. Economy collapsed. Millions fell into poverty.
◽Greece after 2010: Austerity. Privatization. 25% unemployment. Suicides skyrocketed.
◽ The US after 2008: The banks were bailed out. The people lost their homes. The rich got richer. The poor got poorer.

Socialism doesn't mean going backward. It means going forward. It means equality, equity, and a good system. It means healthcare for all. It means education for all. It means housing for all. It means a future for all.

The US can't let people believe that. So it bombs, blockades, and sanctions any country that tries it.

The US doesn't oppose socialism because it doesn't work. It opposes socialism because it works. Because if socialism can work, then capitalism has no excuse. Because if socialism can work, then the US has been lying to its own people for a century. Because if socialism can work, then the empire has no future.

So the US uses every tool it has sanctions, blockades, coups, bombs to make sure that no socialist country is allowed to succeed.

But the truth is that the US is failing. The streets of New York and Los Angeles and Detroit are proof. The empire is rotting from within.

And the world is watching.

That is the argument. It is not a slogan. It is a fact.

The illicit alcohol market in South Africa has expanded from an opportunistic underworld hustle into a highly sophisticated R25.1 billion (annual tax loss R16.5 billion) parallel shadow industry.

The scams:

1. Syndicates obtain discarded/fake bottles of popular whiskies, brandies and vodka. These are refilled with cheap, unregulated industrial ethanol or toxic methanol and then resealed using counterfeit caps, labels, and cloned excise stamps, and reintroduced directly into unverified retail pipelines. Methanol toxicity poses fatal health risks, causing permanent blindness, organ failure, or death.

2. Some are of these “poison liquor” products are unknown brands or made up brands sold as cheap alternatives.

3. Unscrupulous producers legally manufacture products but intentionally under-declare or misclassify their true production volumes to the South African Revenue Service (SARS). By filtering thousands of litres of pure alcohol into the market off the books, they completely bypass excise duties.

4. Contraband and raw ingredients cross borders untaxed.

5. Transit diversion: high-proof ethanol is imported under declaration that it is "in transit" to neighboring African nations. Because it is marked for export, no local duties are paid. Syndicates then illegally offload and divert the chemical into South African warehouses to blend backyard spirits.

Between 1994 to 2014, the illicit portion of the alcohol industry hovered at 10% to 13%. This translated to an annual loss of around R2.5 billion.

During this period, SARS ran a specialised project pressuring the major syndicate involved. In a major judicial precedent, Peter Haupt, was criminally prosecuted in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court for violating the Customs and Excise Act after SARS teams discovered he had tampered with and broken the official revenue seals to continue illicit bottling off the books.

SARS also conducted investigations into special duty free shops in Gauteng. This project was disrupted from 2014 onwards as enforcement at SARS was dismantled.

While the legal alcohol market grew, SARS’s real excise tax revenue collections also began to stagnate and drop significantly relative to market size between 2015 and 2018.

By 2017, Euromonitor International pinned the 2017 illicit market share at 15%, translating to annual tax losses of R4.6 billion.

By 2019, the estimated parallel market was at R12.9 billion and annual tax loss estimated at R6.4 billion. It reflects an illicit economy that had expanded due to the State Capture purges at law enforcement agencies and SARS.

During the Covid Lockdown and total ban of alcohol in 2020, the illicit marked peaked at an estimated 22% translating to R20.5 billion and an annual revenue loss of R11.3 billion.

2019-2024: The alcohol project was reignited in 2019 when SARS reconstituted enforcement capacity. Of 6 suspect operations, 5 were shut down by SARS and a loss of around R100 million per month was stopped. 206 diplomats were implicated and many were expelled by government.

In 2025, the illicit part was estimated at 18%, translating to R25.1 billion, with an estimated R16 billion annual tax loss.

2025: Bronkhorstspruit: SARS and SAPS bust workers actively decanting a 40,000-litre tanker of high-proof ethanol - falsely earmarked for export to Zimbabwe - into distribution flow-bins to produce illegal liquor locally. The operation uncover 92,000 litres of illicit ethanol and illegal fuel-adulteration facility, dealing an R11 million blow to the syndicate.

2025: Midrand: Hawks uncover illegal manufacturing facility and distillery in Midrand, seize R2 million worth of illicit alcohol already packaged under cloned, commercial brand labels.

2026: Kempton Park: SARS, SAPS & Hawks intercept 26,000-litre consignment of 96% pure imported ethanol, preventing R9.1 million tax loss.

2026: Plankenburg: SAPS, Western Cape Liquor Authority & SARS raid confiscated illicit liquor valued at R12 million.
