At Mary Waters High School in Makhanda, educational tablets intended to support matrics are stored in a cupboard. The school received 115 of them at the start of 2025. The devices came preloaded with past papers, and each was to receive 50GB of mobile data at the start of every month. They were part of an Eastern Cape Department of Education (ECDoE) programme that provided devices to 54,000 grade 12 learners.

Mercy Ntsako Mashaba went missing after travelling to visit her boyfriend in Sunnyside, Tshwane, on 20 December 2020. She called her family to let them know she had arrived safely. However, the following day, her phone was switched off.

When her family contacted her boyfriend, he reportedly told them that Mercy had gone to the post office and never returned. A missing person case was opened at the Sunnyside police station. According to the family, they were later informed that investigators had obtained an arrest warrant after uncovering certain information, but the investigation eventually went cold.

Mercy has remained missing since December 2020, and her family is still searching for answers. Anyone with information about her whereabouts is asked to contact 071 483 6611.

There is so much misinformation being spread about what’s actually happening in Spain:

1) Migrants are not swimming or taking boats to Spain’s mainland. Ceuta is a Spanish enclave on Morocco’s northern coast.

2) This is a coordinated effort by Morocco’s government, seen in the video below transporting migrants in trucks to Ceuta.

Morocco’s government aligns with Israel and the US, so these efforts most likely aim to punish Spain for supporting Palestine and opposing the US and Israel’s war against Iran.
