however, to justify an RM300M+ F1 hosting fee, ticket sales alone won't cut it. Singapore wins on proximity of a city circuit, but we just may have the infrastructure and space to win on scale🏎️

some high-level thoughts to maximize ROI:
•the Austin Model: Turn Sepang into a 3-day music & lifestyle festival to keep fans on-site spending all day.
•KL Fan Zones & Express Transit: Turn Bukit Bintang/TRX into branded fan hubs with activities and merch, backed by direct "F1 Express" rail lines from KL Sentral.
•concurrent B2B Summits: Host global tech, founder, and investor summits (like Malaysia Blockchain Week) in KL mid-week to capture corporate spend and drive real FDI.

if we bring it back, we gotta treat it as a country-wide economic engine, not purely a 2-hour per day race over 3 days.

lewis hamilton once sat on a plastic stool at an ampang @Petronas station. someone sold that exact stool on shopee for RM2,888. that's the fanbase we're working with🤣

malaysia already puts grand-prix-level money into F1 every year. PETRONAS pays ~US$75m/yr (roughly RM330m) as @MercedesAMGF1's title sponsor, renewed for two decades running. nobody renews a deal that size on vibes, so the F1 brand ROI clearly works.

the real opportunity is alignment: petronas is developing the 100% sustainable fuel for F1's 2026 regulations. imagine debuting that era with a home race at sepang. the tech story, the brand story and the national story in one weekend.
for context: singapore's first decade of racing brought in 490k international visitors, S$1.4b in tourism receipts (their own govt numbers).

one thing i'd add to my list below: the talent pipeline. alex yoong is still the only malaysian ever to race in F1, 24 years ago. sim-racing quals, wildcards in support races, a home paddock to dream in.
