@ReassessHistory I can see why I got told to read this having had similar problems in the past with getting rights to show Nuclear Test Veterans IWM films at their conference. What annoyed me most was they are actually in the films and have photos showing the film crews actually making the film.

In March 1945, Los Alamos Laboratory director Robert Oppenheimer froze the experimenting on the design of the implosion device so that work could focus on one approach, explosive lenses. This made it possible to have an operational “gadget” by the planned test in July.

@ceri_mcdade @stik____ @BNTVA There are also the Starfish prime which detonated a Nuclear warhead in space causing an aurora borealis effect across the Pacific, this was seen on Christmas Island and as far as Hawaii.

@ColdWarChannel The official record for Operation Mosaic, G2 test is a prime example. Officially it's 60kt reality it was about 92kt according to Royal Commission.... and the fallout travelled.

@ColdWarChannel Though my Dad is someone I'd really want to interview, I've got so many unanswered questions from his time at the nuclear tests in Maralinga. I'm finding out a lot but there is still so many gaps which would probably better explain his early death from a rare cancer!

@ceri_mcdade @sandfordawards @HoStBarnabas @BNTVA From what I've seen online it was the exBNTVA chairman who stood down (for the 3rd time) in 2020... Mind you I'm sure it's because of him that the American Operation Dominic 1962 was mentioned (known as Brigadoon in the UK) instead of the far more controversial Maralinga tests.
