GTA V was also the most popular game in history with a plethora of microtransactions just in online alone but there was basically no outcry then. Why now? You think Rockstar is pushing these bad practices further but just because more people look at the product and like it doesn't mean they're pushing it more than, say, Activision or whoever.
Rockstar is simply charging a multi billion dollar game for $80 and releasing a Deluxe edition for an additional $20 that has completely optional and cosmetic content. They charge more ($80 instead of $70) because their game cost more to make. Simple as that. They NEED to make a profit on it, otherwise we'll never get another game from them again and more layoffs happen.
The only thing about Rockstar right now that I really REALLY don't like is their digital only retail copies. That's bullshit.
I'm sorry, but that last line was very cringe 😂
Like I said, I don't necessarily agree with these people's decisions, but I can understand when Rockstar makes games like RDR2, GTA V and so on, that people will just buy whatever from them because they trust Rockstar.
And, I'm just curious, BESIDES being digital only, what bad precedent are they setting that is unprecedented?
@TrueCraftKing@K__Med Lol if we still got charged $60 retail then there would be even more layoffs and development times would be even longer than they are now.
@NastyRavens@K__Med Listen, I don't really agree with some of these people's decisions, but some of them trust Rockstar enough and are diehard fans where even if they saw gameplay and it looked bad, they'd still buy it. So it doesn't really matter WHEN they buy it.
Well sure, but let's say your savings has exactly what you need, your emergency savings has exactly what you need, but your fun savings is at $70 when the game launches. Well, then you can't buy it and you have to wait to play it. So sure, it won't be sold out, but now you're not playing the game.
Now, if 3 months before launch, you have the exact same amount in savings and in emergency savings, but your fun savings is $110 and you don't have any plans to use it until you next put money in it, why wouldn't you put that money down on a preorder? That way, you don't risk not having money for it at launch.
@exell_pr@K__Med If you're scrounging for $100 just for gas, then you don't apply to my statement and shouldn't be purchasing $100 games at all. But hey, it's not my money.
@8Slayface8@yharnamelite@wesleytypes@thewitcher@CDPROJEKTRED I could see that. Maybe the Elder Blood was causing some sort of unknown condition that we haven't seen before. Idk, I'm hopeful that CDPR's writers have some deep and impactful storytelling regarding that.
I don't think the person who first responded to you meant she did it ONLY for sterilization. Because I think I'd agree that if it were revealed that she did the trials ONLY for sterilization, then that is bad writing. Not only is it simple, but it's simple and doesn't make sense.
I'm just saying I don't think this person meant it was only for sterilization, just that it was one of the reasons.
@8Slayface8@yharnamelite@wesleytypes@thewitcher@CDPROJEKTRED And I agree that we need more reasoning and information, and I think that'd be really interesting to see if it was forced upon her.
But we can't jump to conclusions and automatically label it as "terrible logic" when we don't even know the reasoning behind it yet.
@8Slayface8@yharnamelite@wesleytypes@thewitcher@CDPROJEKTRED Exactly, but you've already said it's completely illogical. Since we have no evidence or reason why she's done it, you literally can't say it's illogical.
An illogical reason would be "I went through the trials just for the lulz".
That's easy to say when your own life isn't being targeted simply due to your special Elder Blood. Even if the reason were as simple as "She'd rather die attempting to become something she's always felt she's been than play it safe and have someone abuse her power for possibly nefarious purposes." then that's still a good enough example for her to undergo the trials.
You're thinking way too far into this.
