There are cost studies from Tennessee that show the death penalty costs more than life without parole due to the cost of trials, appeals, death row housing. And now an ICU bed due to a failed execution. The 13th amendment bans forced labor except for those duly convicted, and that's why you see many prisoners forced to perform tasks and there are punishments if they do not. I'm fine with prison labor so long as it meets the same standards as free labor with regard to heat, hours, safety, etc. This sort of labor is better than murdering yet another person - which is senseless. We don't rape rapists or burn down arsonists' houses. We should not murder murderers.
It's like you're talking "at" me. using words like "you" and "yours".
The point of prison is not rehabilitation. It is nice if someone can be rehabilitated, but the point of prison is to separate dangerous people from everyone else. The reason we should not execute prisoners is because murder is wrong no matter who's doing it, so long as prisons exist that can hold people.
@drivinginkorea@AP Based on the simple idea that harming anyone in absences of immediate need for defense is simply wrong, and based on the existence of effective prisons that can separate dangerous people from society.
@drivinginkorea@AP That's the wrong way, though. It is not justified to murder someone whom is already safely separated from society. If we think what she did was wrong (it was), it's also wrong to do the same to her when alternatives like prison exist.
@IDFlolicon@XFreeze I believe @tobi has his agent buy stuff for him. I think he gave it a budget. idk how much advertising it consumes though. I'm thinking about doing the same.
As for the fate of advertising, it will adapt as it always has.
@IDFlolicon@XFreeze My best guess - I think there will be a push for a universal digital identity. All your agents/bots will use yours, and you'll be accountable for both the good and bad things they do.
I believe that the death penalty is wrong. Killing a person is only justifiable when protecting human life, and only when nothing else will ensure that protection. The U.S. has an effective prison system that contains dangerous individuals. Modern day executions kill people that are already restrained and contained. When there's a non-lethal way to protect life and the government kills anyway, that is murder. Tennessee has had two failed executions this year alone. While effective prisons exist, execution should be made illegal.
