Next time you think someone is being harassed, stand up! Intervening does not mean that a bystander has to get involved in a verbal or physical fight with the harasser. Ask the victim how they are doing or if they are okay. Or confront or distract the harasser.

Intervention not only makes the victim of harassment feel safer and less alone, but also makes it clear to the harasser that their behaviour is unacceptable. #Nufoshey

As a bystander, what can YOU do?

× Assess the situation & see how you can intervene.
× Confront or question the behaviour of the harassers & direct their attention elsewhere.
× If you do not feel safe doing so, ask the victim if they are okay & if they need any help.

8 years ago we passed the Domestic Violence Prevention Act.

5 years ago the State reported that safe house were established in only 4 atolls & Malé & they are underesourced.
