@Bencera Anyone running AI at scale still needs the infrastructure though? Building and operating the infrastructure is most of where the cost goes, not the model. The question is whether its cheaper to operate in-house. I think its a bubble, but not because of open source models.
@0xconcepts It’s almost as if an Iraqi dictator tried to do this same thing some decades ago and failed miserably to get past the Zagros Mountains. It’s bizarre how so many people treat geography as if it’s not a variable. People really just look at politics and borders and call it a day.
@Hamnrye275024@jeremyct I guess in that sense and specific situation it’s fine. But it depends on the location. What I would be definitely against is displacing locals out of a neighborhood via migration from richer countries. But that can be prevented by local government, or equally mishandled.
@Gerashchenko_en Invading Taiwan would be enormously difficult, regaining Outer Mancuria or parts of it may prove to be easier. Maybe they regain it in the same way that lost it, a treaty. Who knows though, Taiwan is considered the “unsinkable aircraft carrier” for a reason. They need it.
@Gerashchenko_en Xi and the CCP need to deliver something by the time Xi is dead. Xi is 73 and promised “rejuvenation” and reunification of China. Besides Taiwan, does unification not include Outer Manchuria as well? The CCP’s legitimacy is founded on rectifying the century of humiliation.
@DavidPSamson Brain cancer is a fucking bitch, fuck it. My grandmother and great grandfather both died to the fucker. My grandmother had a seizure and went blind, within a month of the diagnosis, she was dead. She went peacefully, so that I am thankful for. It can happen quick folks.
