BREAKING: Diplomatic sources have confirmed that in light of Bangladesh government's response to the student protests in the country, which resulted in the deaths of at least 200 people, the European Union has postponed the start of negotiations with the Bangladesh government concerning its Partnership and Cooperation Agreement which was launched by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in October 2023. This was intended to "expand and develop the relationship between the EU and Bangladesh" and at the launch Bangladesh signed agreements worth €400 million for renewable energy projects and five additional cooperation actions, worth €70 million. .... It is surely time for @UNPeacekeeping to immediately stop Bangladesh from providing peacekeepers to the United Nations until it undertakes an independent investigation of the violence used by the police, military and other para-military groups which has allegedly resulted in nearly 200 deaths of students and other protestors. If they cannot keep peace in Bangladesh, and instead cause killing and maiming, the country's security forces should not be trusted in other countries.
