Single-cell and mycobacteria? In our review - just published 🥳 - we took a deep dive into this topic https://t.co/kt4lDlNgBs Special congrats Inês and Mónica 💫💫
A cure for tuberculosis was found in 1943. Laureate Selman Waksman (shown) began systematic studies of the growth of tubercle bacteria. His colleague, Albert Schatz, isolated streptomycin from a bacterium, which proved to be the first effective medicine against TB.

Very happy to share this work led by @Irvink182 and @mglopez76 on behalf of the Valencia TB Working Group. Promise a 🧵soon
Population-based sequencing of Mycobacterium tuberculosis reveals how current population dynamics are shaped by past epidemics https://t.co/UGfmZmnB2N
New review on tuberculosis/streptomycin resistance- key points, STR-R-TB is: 1)very common & probably underreported; 2)likely transmitting for decades & not fading; 3)often present in MDR and XDR strains. Several related questions need better explanation! https://t.co/LkBTFyFalz
Happy to share this tour de force by Vicky Furió and @mamoreno93. We tried to combine functional genomics and a phylogenetics of thousand of strains to identify 1) genomic architecture and 2) novel clinical mutations of a very well known drug: isoniazid

Just published! We show differences between the two most spread pure HIV-1 subtypes (C and B) and further characterize the Brazilian epidemics: https://t.co/8XLAraU2Vr It was a long research journey - many thanks to all! @icvs_uminho@ufscaroficial@anaapspereira@PMMAraujo
"A pandemia foi uma lição para todos: é possível fazer muito mais, muito mais rápido e com mais eficácia"
O investigador do @icvs_uminho explica, numa grande entrevista, por que é importante investir na combate à malária 🥼

We developed a RT-PCR method for COVID-19 diagnostic @icvs_uminho and @Med_UMinho - liked it so much that we decided to share it openly for all interested, the publication is now online: https://t.co/a9hIj4WNaG Many thanks to all involved including @epicovigal

Any virus in circulation accumulates mutations over time. Evolution never stops. It works just like a construction of roadways: it starts small, it grows, splits…but also shrinks, gets extinct.
The Pango system of SARS-CoV-2 nomenclature aims at tracking these changes.🧵👇
New paper out! Very proud to have contributed to uncover a transcriptional signature across multiple malaria studies linking circulation time of infected erythrocytes, parasitaemia and disease severity https://t.co/Us59C6y3iA @portugalab @icvs_uminho@Med_UMinho
@HIP_SoaresLab Thanks Helena, it was a great pleasure to participate! Many congratulations to Doctor @CruzSebastiao1 for the superb presentation and exciting scientific discussion!!!
