EU on täysin hampaaton lajien suojelussa aikana, jolloin #luontokato uhkaa vain kiihtyä. Italia sallii "poikkeusluvalla" yli 580 000 #peippo'n ja 230 000 #kottarainen ampumisen. Tämän ohella maa on 5,6 milj. laittomasti tapetulla linnulla Euroopan vaarallisin maa siivekkäille.
Bill Gates ratcheted up his feud with Elon Musk, accusing the world’s richest man of 'killing the world’s poorest children' through what he said were misguided cuts to US development assistance.

As I predicted in the game of chicken between Trump and Xi it was Trump to blink and chicken out. The tit for tat trade war escalation started by the US would have spiked US inflation, led to massive supply chain disruptions and would have triggered a serious US and global recession that would have doomed the GOP and the MAGA grand goals by the 2026 mid term elections . So Trump had no choice but to blink while receiving almost no concessions from the Chinese side, not even an agreement like the one in 2019 to buy more US goods such as ag goods. Such modest concessions may emerge during the 90 day period where negotiations will take place to “reset” trade but so far Xi is the clear winner of this trade war .
In today’s May 9th Vatnik Soup, we discuss the ambiguous relationship of the Kremlin with Nazism and explain why so many vatniks can be outright Nazis, and promote or excuse them while at the same time being so hysterical about alleged “Nazis in Ukraine”.

Russia also suffers from collective amnesia when they’re reminded about how they were losing to the Nazis until the “evil Anglo-Saxons” came to the rescue with massive aid. They even systematically claim famous photos of American victories as their own for May 9th.

To recognise rivers as living beings, as two new books do, is a useful step towards providing waterways with personhood and rights—and in turn protecting them and the life they sustain https://t.co/41hr4X2kbP
I enthusiastically supported Trump's victory in the November election.
I thought I was voting for pro-business policies and small, targeted, and incremental tariffs that would encourage the production of strategic industries to return to the Americas.
I.e., what we got in the first Administration.
I did not vote for a neutron bomb to wipe out supply chains and small businesses 100 days in.
A 3-way game of chicken is being played between Trump, Powell and Xi. The strike price for the Powell put is much lower than for Trump put. And Xi’s put strike live is even lower; thus Xi will let Trump bleed for now in this retaliation Nash game. This is a 3 dimensional chess game and Trump is totally clueless. He can’t even play a one dimensional chess game. And superior chess and poker players like Putin and Xi are already out manipulating Trump on Ukraine, Taiwan and other geo-political issues. Trump was always a naive amateur thinking he could use his carpet bagger Art of the Deal cheap threats and bluffs to complex geopolitical and geoeconomic issues. But Trump 1.0 had a bunch of smart heavyweight advisors who could guardrail him against his worst instincts. This time Trump 2.0 has mostly a bunch of wimpish sycophantic yes men “advisors” who not only don’t dare to cross him but rather give him pseudo-intellectual fodder and justification to his worst destructive policy instincts on trade! So unless he starts to think and be rational again, backpedal and de-escalate very fast - as Bessent and Miran suggested to him early on - we end up with a massive US and global recession and financial meltdown this year!
