Earlier today, our local government leaders from across Nakifuma county in Mukono District had a productive induction session at the party headquarters. It has been a cordial interaction where the party trainers emphasized services as a yardstick for good leadership to the people we serve.

We have held our third induction meeting for our parliamentary caucus where the party top leadership and invited comrades interfaced with our newly elected MPs.
We emphasized that our Members must play a heavy role in advancing the people’s cause for democracy. We also equipped those assigned with parliamentary responsibilities with the vital knowledge to operate within our legislative agenda and manifesto.
At this same occasion, we constituted the leadership of our parliamentary caucus which shall be headed by Hon. Betty Nambooze Bakireke who will be deputized by Hon. Ssebina Gyaviira.
We have resolved to go to Kalangala district and reclaim our position as our candidate gets nominated this Wednesday in the forthcoming byelection.
We are not giving up on the bigger vision of ensuring that our president assumes his rightful place and we take Uganda forward.

What a cruel world! To imagine that such a talent - a star who proudly flew our national flag with the Uganda Rugby Cranes - fell at the hands of a mob is as alarming as it is devastating. We all hope that there will be justice for this heinous crime. Deepest condolences to his family, the Rugby fraternity, and every fan who cheered him on. May the almighty grant infinite strength to his loved ones during this dark time.
On the Gaddafi Mugumya, Kivumbi Achileo, Wakabi Grace and Ssebuufu Edward (Eddie Mutwe) Masaka case, our legal team filed a bail application way back on October 23rd, 2025 but there has not been a date allocated for the hearing. Even the trial itself has not commenced due to the fact that the state prosecution has no case in the first place. They have not adduced any evidence to support their trumped up case!

This morning, our comrades returned to the Kawempe Magistrates Court for their bail hearing in the trumped up charge of ‘unlawful drilling’.
Even though these comrades have spent a lengthy time on remand and they now qualify for mandatory bail since the state prosecution has not concluded their investigations, the presiding Magistrate did not grant bail as expected.
The magistrate instead said that the defence team did not present anything substantial in their bail application to warrant a different verdict from the previous bail applications. The matter has been adjourned to 26th June 2026, which is another moment for the regime prosecutors to yet again abscond their duty of collecting evidence to back up their fabricated charges.
We are grateful to all comrades who have continued to exhibit solidarity with our jailed comrades and we believe that someday, the chains shall break free!

The Butambala Chief Magistrates’ Court presided by His worship Deogratias Ssejjemba has today adjourned the matter of our Deputy President for Buganda Hon. Muwanga Kivumbi and his co-accused. The matter has been adjourned to June 25.
This was due to the fact that the prosecution file remains at the International Crimes Division of the High Court in Kololo, Kampala.
The office of the DPP continues to disregard court orders by failing to transfer the case file to Butambala as directed by the court.

On 3rd June 2019, Johnbosco Kibalama was abducted from Gayaza Road. Today marks seven years since he was taken away without trace. He was a pioneer #PeoplePower coordinator. In these 7 years, his mother, father, andl wife have passed on. All manner of efforts have been made to locate him without success. Robina Nabbanja has previously confirmed that he's in the custody of the state. And yet, Kibalama is still missing. How sad that his captors chose #UgandaMartyrsDay to commit this great crime against humanity. As we commemorate this day, we take a moment to remember all our disappeared, murdered and detained comrades.

Thinking about the political prisoners who are languishing in various prisons on trumped up charges. They are prisoners of conscience who are being persecuted for their political beliefs.
On this Martyrs Day, we honor the sacrifices of these comrades and we continue to advocate for their freedom. From the Machete group that has been illegally detained since 2021 with no fair trial to the Hon. Muwanga Kivumbi group, we call for their freedom.
We concur with the 1968 Martin Luther King Jr phrase, “We shall overcome because the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice." Someday, we shall overcome all this repression.

ARE YOU a HOUSE SLAVE or a FIELD SLAVE?🤔
🎥: Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert’s (@HEBobiwine’s) speech at the funeral of Mzee Christopher Columbus Ssembuya. 🇺🇬
On Friday, 14 January 2022, mourners gathered in Kikwayi village, Nkokonjeru, Buikwe District, #Uganda to lay to rest Mzee Christopher Columbus Ssembuya, the 85-year-old industrialist whose vision helped shape Uganda’s banking, broadcasting, and manufacturing sectors. At this funeral, Bobi Wine delivered a powerful and historically grounded message that was a part tribute, and part national reflection.
Drawing from Malcolm X’s “Message to the Grassroots”, he revisited the stark contrast between the House Slave and the Field Slave (Plantation Slave) to illuminate Uganda’s present political reality.
Malcolm X described the HOUSE SLAVE as one who “lived close to his master… wore his master’s second-hand clothes… ate food that his master left on the table… and lived in the master’s house.” This slave identified with the master so deeply that “his master’s pain was his pain.” When the master’s house caught fire, “he would fight harder to put the fire out than the master himself.” House Slaves were a minority and they were comfortable, loyal, and used to enforce the master’s will.
In contrast, the FIELD SLAVE “endured harsh conditions… working long hours in the fields under brutal circumstances.” He lived on “meagre rations and ragged clothing… ate leftovers… didn’t get anything but what was left of the insides of the hog.” He resented the master’s oppression. When the house burned, “he prayed for a wind”. When the master fell sick, “he prayed that he’d die”. The Field Slaves were the majority and their experiences fostered a collective identity and resistance against oppression.
Bobi Wine used this historical lens to challenge Uganda’s present-day intellectuals who imagine themselves part of the ruling dynasty. Many, he argued, behave like modern-day house slaves by defending a system that will never truly include them, and helping to deny ordinary citizens their right to choose their leaders.
His message was also a tribute. He honoured Mzee Ssembuya as “one of Uganda’s most successful businessmen”, a man who invested heavily in his country and uplifted countless people. Ssembuya co-founded Sembule Group of Companies in 1971 and built Sembule Steel Mills, the first Ugandan-founded manufacturer of steel products such as wire mesh and nails. He went on to establish Sembule Investment Bank (now Bank of Africa, Uganda), Pan World Insurance (later Lion Assurance), and Cable International Television (CIT), which became WBS TV and was the first station to give Ugandans access to international channels like CNN and DW.
By the 1980s, Sembule was manufacturing radio sets, energy-saving bulbs, street-lighting systems, and television sets through Sembule Electronics. By 2000, it had become a leading industrial brand across East Africa.
Despite this remarkable legacy, Mzee Ssembuya’s companies faced financial distress from the late 1990s onward. In 2014, Sembule Steel Mills was taken over after unsuccessful pleas for government support. Until his death, he was still seeking assistance to revive his business empire.
Bobi Wine’s generational challenge was unmistakable, saying, “We hoped our elders would fight for us but they didn’t… they’re comfortable. So they should either lead us or follow us or get out of our way!”
It was a call to courage, integrity, responsibility; and a reminder that freedom is not inherited but demanded and protected.
May Mzee Ssembuya’s legacy continue to inspire a Uganda that’s built on dignity, industry, and justice. #ANewUgandaNow 🙏🏽🇺🇬
Spent most of the day at the International Crimes Division of the High Court, where we stood surety for Hon. Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi and the other detained comrades. Praying with hope that they will be granted their freedom. They did not commit any offence!
Our Deputy President Hon. Muwanga Kivumbi Muhammad and his 23 co-accused are expected before the International Crimes Division today, Monday, 1st June 2026, at 9:30am. They were to appear here on May 25th but their matter was adjourned to today on grounds that judicial officers were for a ‘retreat’. Hoping no excuse arise this time around.

Our comrade Nazziwa Agatha, aka Blue Tick, was abducted by armed men in military uniform on 9th April as she went to attend the vigil of comrade Waiswa's wife, Edith Katende. Since then, she's been missing - under incommunicado detention. Only yesterday, the military filed this Return to the Habeas Corpus order issued by the High Court, denying holding her in any of their facilities. In the evening, they released her from the DIS (CMI) Headquarters - Mbuya. As always, they ordered her not to ever again associate with @NUP_Ug, else she'd face dire consequences. She says she was held at various detention places and subjected to incredible torture. As we welcome her from this painful ordeal, we condemn the continuing lawlessness and impunity. Grateful to all comrades and the legal team for working hard to push for her freedom.

Our candidate for L.C.5. Chairperson, Kikuube District, was successfully nominated this week on Monday! We wish him the very best in the days ahead.
