The decline of neighborhood theaters in the mid-20th century, hastened by suburban sprawl and the rise of television, led to the closure of the theaters.
While they may be gone, their memory flickers like a classic film reel in the collective consciousness of Union Miles. 🎬
#FlashbackFriday 🎥🎞️
Step into a time machine and journey back to the golden age of cinema in Cleveland’s Union Miles neighborhood. Nestled along Miles Avenue, three movie theaters reigned supreme: the Avalon, the Milo, and the Corlett. 🎬
These weren’t just places to watch films; they were community hubs, where families gathered, dates blossomed, and memories were made.
These theaters echoed with laughter, applause, and the rustle of popcorn, weaving themselves into the fabric of the Union Miles community.
#TBT to the Imperial Theater on Kinsman! 🎥🍿🎞️
This 1,500-seat movie palace was a Universal-Brody gem, designed by Nicola Petti, with Edwin Paddock on the Kimball organ. Opened with much fanfare, it was a golden age cinema haven. Any memories of this lost theater? Share below!

When a devastating car accident left a Union Miles couple’s home severely damaged — including the porch and wheelchair lift they depend on — our team at NuPoint Community Development Corporation knew we had to step in.
This wasn’t just about fixing a porch; it was about restoring safety, accessibility, and hope for a family in need. Working alongside the City of Cleveland & dedicated community partners, we were able to make the necessary repairs and ensure their home is once again a safe haven.
