@privatetalky It’s so interesting that Microsoft dropped DVD Video compatibility in Windows 8, even though many devices back then were still sold with a DVD drive. While Apple still pays licensing fees and updates the software even though they discontinued all computers with DVD drive in 2012.

@PolyDepression Back when I left there in 2023 they just decided to swap out the laptop dummies in my store because they were still from the late 90s.

@PolyDepression I used to work in the Interior Design Department of an IKEA store and what I can tell you is that dummies have to be ordered through IKEA HQ now and are very expensive. So they will just stick tho whatever they have as long as possible, it’s just not worth the time or money.

@lowfry @pkbrln Hab tatsächlich Kleiderstangen, Gitterböden (leider nicht mehr im Sortiment), und Schubladen dafür und jetzt ist es ein 1a Kleiderschrank. Da es unbehandeltes Nadelholz ist, das schön nachdunkelt, sieht es auch einigermaßen wohnlich aus.

@Ekaeoq But they also make these things affordable to many people. IKEA doesn’t gatekeep, unlike most designers, and that’s why I‘ll never stop loving them.

@Ekaeoq I quit my VM job at IKEA to pursue graphic design instead and the amount of hate I encountered against IKEA from designers or architects is astonishing. Yes, they copy work and the quality is questionable sometimes.

@RVN256 In Amerika wird meist kalt gewaschen. Es braucht also viel mehr Chemie, Reibung und Wasser, um die gleiche Reinigungsleistung zu erzielen, wie ein moderner Frontlader bei 60°C im Rest der Welt. Deshalb denken die Amerikaner, dass Bottichwaschmaschinen besser sind als Frontlader.

@iconredesign This is from a weird time where they were changing their typeface from Myriad Pro to Helvetica Neue. Alongside, they stopped putting product names in bold.While iPhone and iMac already got the new typeface, AirPort didn’t, probably because they were about to phase it out anyways.

@gotrice2024 Back when I worked at the Apple Store we closed 8pm but had a cleaning shift until 9pm. People were screaming and banging on the glass doors and windows like a new iPhone at 9pm is a life and death situation. We had security deal with these customers.

@HHandtasche Wenn der junge Mann halt auch kein Festnetztelefon mehr hat (was heutzutage mehr als üblich ist), wird er den alten Mann ohne Angabe einer Ortsvorwahl nicht erreichen können. Wer nicht mit der Zeit geht, geht mit der Zeit.

@frbgrbobbele Finde es halt immer bisschen frech wenn über den eigenen Kopf hinweg entschieden wird, ohne die Bedürfnisse richtig abzufragen oder generell eine Ahnung von der Materie zu haben. Mein Vermieter hatte mir auch einen total überteuerten Stromvertrag abgeschlossen ohne zu fragen 😮‍💨
